It was opening night for some late spring softball and Capitol Hill was glistening with terrific spring weather. Noah K of Bats to the Future took no time in adjusting to the new season. On his first at bat he lauched a home run about as far as someone can possibly hit a ball.
Noah didn't waste any time as he homered in his next at bat at well. He followed up the success with a grand slam his final at bat. It's safe to say that Noah is ready for the new season, and already swinging the bat great as he lead his team to victory, great job!

For the Team Formerly Known as #S3, any opening night jitters would quickly be erased by JD as on the very first pitch of the game he launched a homerun to send his team into jubilation. JD also flashed the leather on numerous occasions assisting on many plays in the field. Later on JD would seal a close victory with a three run home run. His strong bat and speed on the base paths were no match for the competition as JD and his team were victories on a very close one run win on Wednesday night in Capitol HIll.

Wednesday night's game between the Thundercats and Scared Hitless was an absolute barn burner. With the game going back and forth most of the time, Scared Hitless took a 2 run lead into the bottom of the seventh inning. With 2 on and on the very first pitch he sees, Marek hits a deep bomb straight away center field clearing the outfielder's glove and scoring the winning runs. Game over, good night, drive safe and we will see you next week.

Where were you keeping this gem of a pitcher, Manatees?! Erin came in to the relief position around the 6th inning and pitched an immaculate 2 innings to close out the game. Pitching....she's a pro. Delaying the game for 30 mins while we wait for her to get up to bat....also a pro;). Overall, awesome job out there Erin!
Also, big shot out to Ryan who made an amazing diving catch at shortstop....has top 10 plays written all over it.

Total Team Effort in Win
The team formerly known as S3 are on a roll and got their very first win of the season in grand fashion. Not to be denied their first win they went on an absolute tear Wednesday night scoring 21 runs over 5 innings and making a statement that they aren't to be taken lightly. The on switch on their bats got turned on early and after the dust cleared they held the Thundercats to 1 single run. Great win for an up and coming team and we look forward to seeing you guys in action again in a couple of weeks. Great win and great confidence builder.

I don't care who you are, Gerald will entertain the crap out of you with his bombs to left field. During his game against DoubleDown, he launched one over the tennis courts passed left field. Not sure, but that's like 850 feet, I think;) Some might say, "hey this is underdog, we're all about fun....who is this guy"......And I will tell you that even though Gerald is a machine at the plate, he is perfect for Underdog. He knows how to have fun and keeps it classy. Its great to have a guy like Gerald in the league....thanks for the entertainment!!!

Scared Hitless is starting to show that winning shine and Monday night's game was proof that this team is still strong, still dangerous and are ready to take on all comers vying for a league title. Behind some very strong defense and hot bats early on, they showed consistency, energy, and their defense got tighter as the game went on. They had to hold off PBH late to get the win and that's exactly what they did. This team is very fun to watch, they play together as a unit and i look forward to seeing them down the road in future leagues. Great game Miranda and great win for Scared Hitless!!

Monday nights game between Shared Hitless and Go Hard Go Yard was an absolute barn burner with all of the excitement you would expect to see and experience at a USL Monday night league softball game. Right from the start both teams duked it out exchanging blow after blow. In the end is what the hot bats in the top of the 7th inning that really put the game away. Hats off to Scared Hitless who stood in there and traded inning after inning but just coming up short in the end. Great game to both teams and we look forward to seeing this match up happen again.

No. 1 Seed Riding High
Another game and another impressive win for Pitch Slaps. On Wednesday night they faced off against number eight seeded Stampeding Manatees and from the start it was evident that this team has a championship on their minds. Their defense is as tight as a drum and their hustle is unmatched. After exploding in the third, fourth and sixth innings it was very hard for the Manatees to match that and stay in the game through the end. The entire team gets after it every game and it's fun to watch them get after it. Great win and see you next week as the playoffs continue.

The table is half set on the league championship and GHGY have already punched their ticket to the dance. They knocked off powerhouse Bats To The Future 11 to 7 to advance with the chance to win their 2nd USL league title. Led by the great pitching of Scott Shay and everyone gettin after it at the plate, they were able to hold BTTF to 4 runs total over seven innings which is very hard to do. They are moving on to face the winner of the number one and number 5 seed game on Wednesday. Great win and we will see you on Wednesday.

Team Defense Key In Big Win
Wednesday night's championship game between Go Hard Go Yard and Pitch Slaps was one for the record books and will go down as one of the best played championship games in USL history. This game was truly a barn burner from start to finish. Led by the awesome pitching of Karyn and the hot bat of Andrew, Pitch Slaps scored critical runs when they needed to and locked it down on defense when they needed to kill a rally. The action went back and forth like a good old fashion gun fight in the old west. Go Hard Go Yard came out swinging early and built an early 3 run lead. Not be out done Pitch Slaps responded with 4 runs of their own and set the tone and sent a clear message that it was going to be a good ole fashioned throw down. After both teams went scoreless in the next 3 of 4 innings it was pitch slaps that rattled off 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning and that was the difference in the end. Down by 1 run and with 3 outs to either tie or go ahead Go Hard Go Yard could not answer in the top of the 7th with three straight outs. Great game, good night and congratulations to Pitch Slaps for capturing the league title.
