Ali- Frazier. Red Sox - Yankees. Lakers - Celtics. Federer- Nadal. Balls of Fury - Roy Munson's Kids. Another great rivalry was cemented in the sport pantheon Tuesday night as Roy Munson's Kids took down their arch-rivals and defending BTB champs Balls of Fury for another championship themselves.
With all due respect to our other teams, this seemed like a two horse race from the start. Balls of Fury have owned the lanes at Imperial on Tuesday nights for some time, in their many incarnations. After the closing of Sunset Bowl, and the subsequent shakeup of the Seattle bowling circuit, Roy Munson's Kids were forced to relocate with their own winning ways, and went gunning for a new challenge. They found it in Balls of Fury. Apparently, the ties go even further back to when members of both teams were in the same high school class together! But enough preamble; on to the action!
Balls of Fury had nothing to fear coming into the playoffs Tuesday, defending their crown, and knowing that they had already defeated their closest competition, Roy Munson's Kids earlier this season. But the Kids had ideas of their own and were looking to bounce back big. After the #1 and #2 seeds made short work of their respective opponents XXX and Big Balls Get All The Pin Action, the championship showdown was on!
Unfortunately, though, one team brought their A game and one had trouble focusing and closing out. Roy Munson's Kids seemed determined and sharp, while Balls of Fury just didn't have their best stuff. In the final tally, Roy Munson's took the win by 50 pins while Big Balls claimed their third place consolation victory after a regular game tie resulted in a dramatic one frame bowl-off!
