AECOM, C-Dub, Grass Stains and Hangover Pains, Saved by the Ball - Indy #K11
Justin Roisom
Stanny Young Alumni
Justin had great energy from the start--a little too much with the heaters he was throwing at first, but he cooled it down and pitched superbly. In the field he made every play that came his way including a big catch on a line drive that ended a rally by the Ballbarians. Offensively, he reached base 3 times and scored 3 runs. But he and the Stanny Young Alumni saved their best for last. Trailing 7-2 in the bottom of the 6th, they exploded for 7 runs, including a 3-run HR by Justin, and held on for the opening night victory.

Andy Morison
C-Dub
Andy was pumped up and ready to play right from the start. Early in the game, he kicked a solid single and ended up scoring. He followed that with a 3 run triple in the 4th and and another in the 6th to seal the win in a close 2-run victory on opening day.
Grass Stains and Hangover Pains forfeited to Stanny Young Alumni.

David Thomas
Ball Me Maybe
David did it all to help his team earn a big win in the hot sun. In the 3rd, he knocked in 2 runs with a big single and scored as part of Ball me Maybe's big 8 run rally. He had another single and run scored in the 6th but one of his best plays was on defense. It was the 5th inning and a run had scored and AECOM had the bases loaded. David made a great play to his right, deep into the hole between 1st and 2nd, snatched the ball, turned and fired nailing the runner just before the bag, ending a potential big inning. Great play David!

Brandon Kennedy
Saved by the Ball - Indy #K11
Brandon had three big, twisting kicks that somehow stayed fair down the right field line. He kicked a single, double and triple for 5 RKIs and scored 2 runs. On D he was involved in a huge double play with the bases loaded to keep the Ballbarians to only 2 runs in the 4th and also made a nice catch on a hot line drive to end the 6th. An all around great game and well deserved player of the week.
The score of the matchup between One Kick Wonders and Saved by the Ball could hide a lot of bright spots, but it is important to note there were great pitchers on both sides, a couple double plays, excellent tag-outs by each team and outstanding displays of sliding technique from Mr. Matthew "Matt" Johnson. Matt slid not just once but twice! Matt also cleaned up at the plate and scored runs multiple times. That is why we have made Matt Johnson our Player of the Week.

Justin Roisom
Stanny Young Alumni
Basically, the entire roster for Stanny Young Alumni get the award for Player of the Week, but, alas, there can only be one. So, I nominate Justin Roisom for Player of the Week. Great sportsmanship and fun attitude! How awesome was it to have the whole roster for Stanny Young Alumni show up game -ready and chomping at the bit? So great. Even more than that, this team played a spirited short scrimmage with the six players for AECOM to use up the allotted time. Cheers and kudos to Stanny Young Alums! Justin is nominated for Player of the Week.

Shaun Groetsema
Ball Me Maybe
Shaun had a huge day on offense and was all over the field on defense. He had a monster 3-run homerun in the 4th followed by a 2-run double with a couple other hits mixed in for 5 knocked in and 3 runs scored. In the field, he made a great running catch to end the Young Alumni's bases loaded scoring opportunity in the 3rd. Shaun then led a big double-play to end an 8-run 6th inning rally helping preserve the victory for Ball Me Maybe.

Cameron Wu Ends This Season With A Great Performance
C-Dub Player Ruins Achilles In Process
C-Dub was all offense this week including a standout performance by Cameron Wu before his season may have been sidelined. "Cam" and his crew started early and kept up the pace by scoring runs over and over. It was the fateful 4th inning that rendered Cam's injury. He sat, icing his heel, the remainder of the game. Before this inning, he racked up 5 RBI and 2 runs and was a leading force on the field for his team. Shout out to Cam and a quick recovery. You are the player of the week. Come back and play ASAP.
Saved by the Ball - Indy #K11 forfeited to Ball Me Maybe.

Player of The Week
AECOM
Bob P. played hard on both sides of the ball and has a good time doing it. In left field, he made several nice catches and got the relay throws in quickly to keep runners from advancing. On offense, Bob reached base 3 times with 3 solid singles and scored his teams only run. Not spectacular but he did his part and did it well, all while keeping it fun for everybody.

Tessa Fox Dazzles on the Mound
C-Dub Leader Pulls Out Close Game
This week featured a matchup between the C-Dub squad and Grass Stains and Hangover Pains crew. What a close game it was, with C-Dub pulling out a score of 9-6 and a victory. Instrumental in this win was star pitcher Tessa Fox who pounded the kickball for hits as a batter and made spectacular diving plays from the pitcher's mound playing defense. A leader on the field and a solid pitcher earns the right to be called Player of the Week. Good close win!
Two forfeits this week and C-Dub was the coolest for dealing with some no-shows and stragglers. End of the year games this year have seemed to lose some players in the process. C-Dub showed up and even played a scrimmage getting ready for the playoffs!! Good luck and thanks for a great regular season to all teams!
Shaun had a phenomenal performance on both sides of the ball in both games on Monday evening. Offensively, his stats are so big that they're just hard to tabulate. In game 1, he kicked a huge HR, a triple and a double for at least 8 RKIs. He followed that in the championship game with 3--yes 3 triples for 7 RKIs and 3 runs scored. Defensively at 3rd he was just a nightmare for Ball Me Maybe, with catch after catch on some hot shots with a dive left and a dive right. It was a total, dominating performance for Shaun and a well earned POTW.
