This week, Barry earns player of the week honors for making a catch through hard contact with the ground. In his game this past Monday, Barry pursued a high fly ball into deep center field and up onto the hill, where he made the catch as he lost his footing. Barry maintained control through the process of the catch despite thudding against the hard grass. For his selfless heroics, Barry is our player of the week.

Shane Drexler
GNARBALLZ
Shane was a monster at the plate and a softie in the field. Blast after blast, Shane kept his team rolling offensively with multiple RBI's seemingly after every time he was up at the plate. Shane's slugging percentage would be of great use for a certain baseball team that plays down the road, as he had an extra base hit every time up to kick. But as ruthless as he was as a kicker, he was Mr. Nice guy as a first basemen. With multiple opportunities to peg bunters with the ball, he instead opted for the much nicer route of just trying to tag his base, actually costing his team some outs in the process.

Austen Kartic
Don't Stop Ballievin
Austen had a huge offensive game with 2 big kicks that ended up as home runs and two doubles. He also scored 3 runs and and had at least 6 RKIs. He also had a big catch to end a rally by the WS Ballers and definitely earned his player of the week award.

Cody Chung
The Sensual Winnebagoes
Cody had an incredible offensive output in both games of his team's Wednesday double-header. In game 1, he had a 2-run and 2 3-run HR's and 2 singles for at least 10 RKIs and 5 runs scored. He continued with the big kicks in game 2 with a run scoring double, a 2 out RKI triple, a 2-run HR that bounced off the top of the fence in CF and another 3-run HR to carry his team to a couple big wins. Nice work Cody!

Lauren King
The Red Lines
Lauren exemplifies all that is great in kickball. She gave her all on both sides of the ball regardless of the score. She got on base 3 times, had a great slide at home and scored her first run of the season. Lauren also had a big catch at 2nd that ended a potential scoring rally. Her great attitude and solid play earned her player of the week. Keep it up!

Ratzloff Showcases Amazing Fielding
The Sensual Winnebagoes
In the notoriously kicker friendly Denny Park, one man made it a miserable day for the opposing team with his tremendous fielding. That man is Matthew Ratzloff. Inning after inning, Ratzloff was on the ground, in the air, and everywhere in between making catches that would make Willie Mays say, "Hey!".

Jason Littleton
A great player giving his team a storybook ending
The score was 5 to 4 and Don't Stop Ballievin had been behind for most of the game. They managed to manufacture some runs in previous innings to get them to this point. It was the bottom of the seventh with one out and the bases were loaded. Jason Littleton had already been busy on defense with a couple catches in the outfield, but he now had a chance to win the game for his team. The pitch came and Jason kicked the ball between first and second base and drove in two runs to win the game with a walk off single! This is why Jason is Player of the Week and reminds us all to never stop ballieving!

Mike Czamara
GNARBALLZ
I know Pete Rose is not allowed in the hall of fame, but I guess he was allowed into Denny Park on Monday. Mike channeled his inner Charlie Hustle, slapping base knocks all over the field. Singles, doubles, RBI's, you name it Mike had it leading Gnarballz to an important victory as playoffs approaches.

Jason Littleton Homerun Helps Team Comeback
Don't Stop Ballievin Ties With Only HR of the Day
This week's Player of the Week, right before the playoffs, has to go to Mountain Man Jason or Jason the Mountain. Before today's games, we chose (with both starting team's approval) to play from the SE corner of Denny field. That changed the game. Instead of a short porch in right field, the short porch was changed to left field. Surprisingly, only one homerun landed across the street. The person to hit that one homerun is Jason Littleton. Congrats on the homerun and comeback (to tie) in the first game of Don't Stop Ballievin's double header. With the one and only homerun of the day, this week's POTW is Jason "The Mtn." Littleton.

Lorn Davis Shines As Defensive Player of the Game
GNARBALLZ's Lorn Davis Robs a Homerun
Possible homerun snagged at the wall/fence by Lorn Davis! A solid performance from both teams ended in a 13-6 win for GNARBALLZ. Two late innings of solid and fired up GNARBALLZ offense provided the kick to get their team ahead of Return of the Amholes and not give up the lead. Given great defense on both sides; like the catcher for Return of the Amoles and Lorn Davis (RF/RCF) for GNARBALLZ, it was difficult to choose which team would have the Player of the Week. Great job both teams! This week's Player of the Week is also on the winning team. Congratulations to Lorn Davis with great catches in the outfield. "Wish we had a replay of that catch at the fence", said the umpire after Lorn Davis robbed a possible homerun to right field in the 5th inning..
Paul played stellar defense in the outfield and was just a blur running the bases. In the 4th, he turned a single into a double by just not stopping at first even though the ball was right there. He also scored 2 runs and had 1 kicked in but the real show was in center field. In the 3rd he caught a sinking fly ball with his knees and recorded all 3 outs that inning. With 2 more big catches in the 5th, one a mile high and another twisting away, Paul kept the game close and played hard to the end.
GJ Farina is a strong competitor who always had a good attitude during the games. Farina showed great hustle throughout the entirety of his games, but showed his greatest amount of hustle and competitiveness during a relay to the plate. There was a ball launched into deep right field, the throw was relayed into Farina in shallow right field. After securing the ball from his right fielder he hurled a laser to the plate hitting the runner in the hip just a few feet away from home plate, thus saving a run from scoring. This was one of the strongest, most accurate throws I've seen in my career as an umpire and thanks to his great attitude and hustle GJ Farina is our Player of the Week!
Alena was a defensive monster in the field gathering in running catches in both games on Monday. In game 1, she had a big juggling catch in CF and a full speed running catch into foul territory for a big out with runners on. In game 2 [the championship] she continued her dominating play on D with a huge catch on a twisting liner in the 3rd and couple nice bunts for base hits. Her team fell short but Alena gave all she had in a valiant effort.
