Jes Hagen
"I hate bunting"
This past Tuesday, Jes earned player of the week honors for her excellent play. But a lesser known feat of hers came late in the game, when her team was already up nine runs. As I reminded Jes that she was required to kick due to the mercy rule, she retorted with "Oh good. I hate bunting. Just so strategic sometimes!" It's always great to see someone so willing to pelt kickballs into oblivion. For her sublime play and optimal attitude, Jes is our player of the week.

Sarah Faubion
I Love Bad Pitches That's My Kicking Problem
Sarah had a great game in the outfield catching all that came her way. She was strong at the plate and didn't let any pitch slow her down. Even with an injury she still wanted to play and stay to cheer on the team. Keep being tuff Sarah!

Stephen Martin
Kick City Kickers
In a game where runs were at a premium, Stephen came through with the biggest kick of the night. Up by only one and needing some insurance runs, Stephen stepped up and blasted a kick over the centerfielder's head. He rounded the bases as fast as he could, scoring what would ultimately be the game-winning run. Great shot Stephen!

Sam Schuh
Balls Against Humanity
Deadlocked at 5 in the bottom of the seventh, Sam somehow found a way to get on base and got all the way to third base with two outs. After the kicker booted a sharp grounder to short, Sam got on her horse and raced home for the walk-off game winning run! Great hustle out there Sam!

Joe earns player of the week for his contribution in all aspects of the game to his team's win. He pitched a CG while putting on a defensive show of PFP's (pitcher fielding practice). He also got on base while driving in several RBI's for his team. A true all around performance.

Lara Fernando
Making the play to keep things even!!
Bottom of the seventh with two outs, the bases loaded, and the game tied at five runs. This is the situation Ball Against Humanity was in. The pitch rolled to the plate, a line drive was kicked and Lara Fernando was able to reach up and snag it just before it smoked past her! Throughout the game Lara had played great defense and had a upbeat attitude with her team. With this catch she was able to put the game away for her team as a tie instead of taking a loss and earned Player of the Week honors with a great play and overall effort!
Derek wins player of the week for his game winning walk off hit to win the first round of playoffs. Phrasing was leading most of the game and gave up the lead late. Phrasing then had to hold on to their tie until the bottom of the seventh. During the seventh with bases loaded, Derek got a hit and scored the winning run.
Frank was a defensive master mind on this playoff evening. He recorded the first four outs for his team at short stop. With the 1st two runners on in the first inning, Frank took matters into is hands by catching a fly ball in shallow left field and snagging a ripped ground ball in the hole between short and 3rd to throw out the runner at third. He calmly caught a line drive for the 3rd and final out. He also made a non routine play in the second inning look very routine. Not to be overshadowed by his fielding skills, Frank also belted 3 extra base hits and had 3 rbis.
One Kick Wonders 2.0 dominated the game both offensively scoring 9 runs and defensively keeping their opponents Brews on First to 0 runs. The biggest contributor to the offensive side of the ball was Stephanie Carlson. She went 5 for 5 for in the championship game and was a powerhouse in the lineup. I would compare her to Nelson Cruz in the Mariners batting lineup, that's how dominating she was. Even in the sport of kickball we don't always see players with a batting average of 1.000 in a game! One more thing for everyone to know, Stephanie didn't just bunt the whole game she was kicking the ball around field. That's why Stephanie Carlson is this weeks player of the game!
