POTW: Amy Congdon
Large Balls, Small Feet
This weeks player of the week goes to Amy Congdon! Her play was in mid-season form for her team as she helped rack up "W" number 1 for the season. Great catches in the outfield that would not have been made without her help. Great job Amy!
Hoop Dreams, It's Business Time, Kick Tease - Indy #1, Platypus of the Northern Territory
POTW: Laurel Green
Kick in a Box
This weeks player of the week goes to Laurel Green of "Kick in a Box". Laurel showed her team how to get it done on offense by getting on base all but one embarassing time. She ran the bases fast, and moved the runners. It was also on D that she made some noise with great plays to the corners to get outs, with her pin-point kicks to the base. Great job Laurel.
Kick in a Box, Large Balls, Small Feet, The Emoticons, Turn Your Head and Cough
POTW: Jesse Pasichnyk
Hoop Dreams
This weeks player of the week goes to Jesse Pasichnyk of "Hoop Dreams". With one big kick of the Big Red Round Ball, he set his team up to take away a win from their opponents. In the bottom of the 7th, Hoop Dreams were down 2 runs and facing a loss. Jesse had different plans as he knocked in the two runs to tie it, then awaited on third as the go ahead run which played out on the next bunt. Great job Jesse, this was defenitely the game of the week as well. Great job both teams!
Kick in a Box, Kick Tease - Indy #1, Large Balls, Small Feet, Platypus of the Northern Territory
POTW: Callan Cobb
Turn Your Head and Cough
This weeks player of the week goes to Callan Cobb. She showed mad skills on offense with huge kicks to left field, more times then not burning the left-fielder. She showed both ladies and gents just how to kick the ball deap. She also had great skills at the catcher position where she knows the game, and great accuracy kicking the ball for the out at first! Great job Callan!
Hoop Dreams, It's Business Time, The Emoticons, Turn Your Head and Cough
POTW: Dave Kiefner
Large Balls, Small Feet
Dave proved that denim is back - willing the Yellow team (Big Balls, Small Feet) to a big ballin' victory on Wednesday despite the handicap of playing in full length jeans. Both on offense and defense the jeans willed him to victory. Nice work Dave.
Large Balls, Small Feet, Platypus of the Northern Territory, The Emoticons, Turn Your Head and Cough
POTW: Jesse Landers
Hoop Dreams
This weeks player of the week goes to Jesse "Danger" Landers of "Hoop Dreams". She played a great game yet her team came up short, she never stopped showing her mad skills. The play that sealed the deal on POTW was her kick to right-field that went over the head of the fielder and she was able to walk into second base with no worries. This helped score a couple of runs that were very hard to come by on this day. It was a great kick and great job Jesse!
Hoop Dreams, It's Business Time, Kick in a Box, Kick Tease - Indy #1
POTW: Madeline Dow
Platypus of the Northern Territory
Madeline Dow seemed to be everywhere on the field on Wednesday night... Maybe it's because she was. Dow played pitcher, catcher, and a variety of other positions for the Platypus of the Northern Territory, and contributed greatly despite her team's loss. Dow's greatest accomplishment came on the basepaths, however, as she dodged, dipped, ducked, dove, and dodged her way out of an out on her way to first base. With stunning prowess, Dow turned to locate the ball and duck out of the way, narrowly escaping an out. Dow helped her team in a variety of ways on Wednesday night, which must be why her team nominated her as their MVP that night, making her the Player of the Week.

POTW: Matt Gauthier
Kick in a Box
Matt Gauthier did his best Derek Jeter impersonation on Monday night, playing Gold Glove caliber defense in a kickball match. Gauthier had multiple innings where he recorded two or more outs, including some acrobatic stops which saved extra bases for the opposition. On more than one occasion, Gauthier attempted the stereotypical Derek Jeter throw (link here: http://blog.nj.com/ledgerupdates_impact/2008/07/medium_jeter.JPG). Although he never successfully executed the throw, the effort/skill was there! Without Matt Gauthier at shortstop on MOnday night, his team might have fallen short. Luckily for Kick In A Box, Gauthier was there to play some D!

POTW: James Amspacher
Platypus of the Northern Territory
For most of the world, Wednesday night was a normal weeknight. For the Platypus of the Northern Territory, Wednesday night was "70's Tennis Player" themed kickball night! James Amspacher showed up the game on Wednesday ready to play, complete with a headband, short shorts, a polo, and of course, a vintage tennis racket. But James' effort didn't stop there. James took his trusted tennis racket into the field as well, using it to field the ball on a number of plays, including some that made the play more difficult. This loyalty to the tennis racket earned James unspeakable respect from the 70's tennis community, and a Player of the Week nod from Underdog Sports.

POTW: Igor Orshansky
Hoop Dreams
Igor's powerful presence dominates whatever kickball game in which he is playing, regardless of the outcome. Despite his team losing this matchday, Igor kept up the intensity and led by his outstanding example of a true kickballer. One particular play occurred that cemented his immortal legacy in place. The catcher threw the kickball back to Igor, the pitcher, after one play. The ball was not worthy of the supreme Igor as it went about fifteen feet to Igor's left. However, Igor still dived on top of the ball even though it was not even in play. Breathtaking.
Hoop Dreams, Kick Tease - Indy #1, Large Balls, Small Feet, The Emoticons
POTW: Dan Anderson
Kick in a Box
Dan anderson's leg was bionic this week. He booted the red rubber ball all over the field. His biggest bomb came late in the game. With runners in scoring position Dan wound up his cyborg leg and smashed the ball deep, way back, to right center field. The ball almost landed on the sidewalk but was ruled "out of play" after only 1 or 2 bounces.

POTW: JT Olson
Turn Your Head and Cough
JT brought sexy back this game (apologies to JT himself, as I'm sure he gets that all the time). JT played fantastically including several key hits and a couple of clutch catches. He gets MVP!!!
Platypus of the Northern Territory forfeited to Large Balls, Small Feet.
POTW: janelle bartelt
It's Business Time
Janelle is the epitome of a good sport. She had a tough day at the dish but it never showed. She ended up with a couple of sacrifice bunts as fielder's made some tough plays to get her out. Her spirits were high through it all and you can tell no matter what kickball throws her way, she will be there to enjoy the game. She was an inspiration to her team and that's why she is the player of the week!
There were some honorable mentions this week, Greg Langlais of It's Business Time also had some great defense this week. He knocked a big fly too which helped them survive a nice comeback from the Emoticons. Of course, Ben Rucker had the Game winning kick which deserves mentioning. The star this day, however, was Janelle; a natural born kickballer! Great job everyone.
John earned PTOW by hustling on defense. A fast guy who would give Speedy Gonzalez a run for his money. Playing behind the plate, he pounced like a cat (sorry Speedy) on top of bunts! There was one play where he outran the bunter to first base and stepped on the bag. He also had a couple of nice kicks and scored at least 2 runs. He did all this in the pouring ran without slipping once! Great job John!
Turn Your Head and Cough forfeited to It's Business Time.
POTW: Matt Ross
Kick in a Box
Matt Ross was a textbook example of hustle on the field Wednesday night. He led Kick In A Box to a decisive 9-1 win in the Championship Game. Most notably, Ross made an incredible evasive move to dodge a thrown ball as he came across the plate to score in the fourth inning. There was also a co-player of the week, and that was the team mascot Henry. Most dogs don't have the tenacity to get out on the field, but Henry tried his best to shake the collar and get out and play. He inspired Kick In A Box, and was certainly an integral part of their championship run.
