It was a close and very exciting game throughout with both teams displaying great defense, which is the key to having a great kickball season. The Little Lebowskis got on top early with a sacrifice fly that ended up scoring 2 runs when the throw went to 2nd instead of the pitcher. They followed with defensive prowess in the 2nd with the pitcher covering a great bunt and then an amazing catch by Ben in right field to leave runners stranded. Ben continued to dominate this game with a 2-run double in the 4th and a 2-run triple in the 6th. Bro's and Hoe's made a nice comeback--scoring 2 runs in the 6th and 2 runs in the seventh, but Ben's D continued to be the difference with a huge 6th inning double play and another amazing catch in right field to seal the deal and give the Lebowskis the title.
Ben was in it to win it [all] on Sunday, needing 2 wins to earn a championship for the Little Lebowskis. In game one he played solid in right field making the catches and keeping it close with 2 RKI. In game 2, the championship, he brought it up offensively with a 2-run double and a 2-run triple with 2 runs scored. He made a huge running catch on a twisting fly ball that was basically the difference, ending a 2-run, 6th inning rally by the Bro's and Hoe's keeping the Lebowskis on top heading to the final inning.
Aaron was a key factor in the opening round playoff victory for the Little Lebowskis. He started it off by blasting a kick to the deep outfield for a 3-run triple in the 2nd. Defensively, he made a key bases-loaded catch in left field to end a potential rally by The Dougies in the 3rd and made a nice relay throw that eventually ended up as a double play to end the 6th. He added a single and a sacrifice fly for a total of 4 RKI and 2 runs scored--a very solid performance on both sides of the ball and a well deserved POTW.
Kate was in quite a dry spell for the last few seasons. She played her part to advance runners and help the team but seemed to always be the sacrifice and not the base runner. Today all that changed. After a few frustrating innings of only advancing runners Kate made it to first. Her excitement flared the Lebowskies and they moved her around the bases. And finally on a sac fly Kate tagged up and crossed home! great job!!!
Its always fun to see the Lebowskis again for the spring leagues but today they brought a special surprise. Debbie Steele brought with her a big game of kickball and a little new addition. She toughed out the game merely 6 weeks after having a new addition to her family, and on her own birthday none the less. Debbie played an amazing game and kept the ball in play! Great job, Happy Birthday, and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
