The life of an Underdog Seattle softball is not a glamorous one. You're born in a faraway land and shipped off to Seattle with thousands of other balls just like you. Then you're indiscriminately plucked from a bag to be put into play without a second thought, before being battered, bruised, and scarred. But every once in a while, if you're really lucky, you'll be tossed toward home plate and sent into the sky, never to return, which is exactly what happened on Sunday August 2nd. This particular Underdog Seattle softball was delivered toward Jesse Corkern and launched on the thrill-ride that every ball dreams of. High over the field, you cease to be a softball and become a home-run ball, a "big fly". For a fleeting moment, you're the envy of everyone. Then you clear the fence and are laid for eternal rest in Woodland Park, never to be abused again. Who among us wouldn't mind that fate?
