Throughout the regular season, Freeballers dominated the competion. They went a perfect 6-0 with a margin of victory of 30-plus. The playoffs would be another story.
From their opening round game to the championship, Freeballers had a target on their back. Their impressive regular season made every team bring their A game trying to knock off the top seed. The needed a last-second TD by Lucas Moen just to escape the quarterfinals.
Their championship game went back-and-forth as well with Jonathan 'Pip' Pipkin taking charge of the defense creating unrelenting pressure on the QB. Freeballers would ultimately win the title and secure an undefeated season. Congrats to the champions!!
If not for Pip's big time contributions on Tuesday, Freeballers may not have been able to add to their trophy case. His constant pressure on the QB bailed out his defense as he forced off balance throws. Using his quick first step and excellent pursuit angles, Pip racked up a massive six sacks. His pass rush was the key to avoiding an upset and securing the championship!
In one of the closest #1 v #8 playoffs games you'll ever see, Lucas M earns this week's Player of the Week for catching the game-winning TD pass with 11 seconds left to give the undefeated Freeballers the victory over the massive underdogs, the Untouchables. It was a close game throughout, with the Untouchables converting on a clutch 2 point attempt with a minute left to go ahead by 1. But the Freeballers weren't fazed, putting together their best drive of the game to win the game.
