Finishing the regular season with a lone defeat, to Stampeding Manatees, St Johns got their chance at redemption in the championship game. But first, they would need to get past the Ice Cold Pitchers in the semi-finals.
As a tune up for the title game, St Johns got their bats going, racking up 25 runs including many monstrous bombs. They flashed some leather too, as they won big. The rematch with the Manatees would not be as easy.
A back and forth battle most of the game, St Johns brought out the big sticks in the 5th inning of the championship as they stretched what was a one-run lead to their largest lead of the night. Staving off a late rally, the club held on to get revenge for their only L of the season and bring home the much-deserved championship hardware. Congrats to St Johns!
A powerhouse offense is what led to St. Johns winning the championship on Wednesday. Racking up over 40 runs in their two playoff games, their offense could not be stopped. Keying their bats was Erin. Time and time again, she came up with ducks on the pond. Virtually every time, she delivered a clutch hit, driving home the base runners. Without her huge bat, St. Johns may not of been able to walk away with the title.
Although Liz disappeared and didn't show up for the game on Monday night, St. Johns rolled despite. Their pitching is stellar, their defense is second to none and when they get going at the plate, game over. Last night they battled with ICP who put up a great fight until about the 5th inning. After that St. John's defense started to lock things down and runs became scarce for ICP. This team is always in the mix for a league title and I don't expect anything less this go around. Great game St. John's.
