In a game with many peaks and valleys, Jackie Cotter kept a cool and level head when it mattered most to pull out the win for her team. Balls To The Wall jumped out to a big lead early and it looked like they would cruise to victory. But a huge late game run had the Ballard Drinking Team up heading into the final inning. Jackie's base-running sealed the deal for Balls to The Wall. With two outs, she advanced to third, while Ballard Drinking team couldn't stop the tying run. Too late at home, they tried to get Jackie out at third, but the ball sailed past on an overthrow and Jackie high-tailed it home for the game-winning run.
Player of the week honors go to Scott Jarnagin from team Balls to the Wall. Scott's timely 2-out, 3-run homerun in the second inning gave Balls to the Wall the lead over Blue Ballz. Not only did the homerun put his team in the lead, but it also sparked a huge 8 run inning that would prove to be too much for their opponents. Congratulations Mr. Jarnagin!
With bases loaded and less than two outs in the bottom of seventh with a 7-7 tie, Balls to the Wall was looking for a hero. His team had one request, "Kick the ball into the air". That was all. Not how far, not where, not to whom...but just in the air. Joe did exactly what they asked. He popped a little floater barely to second base, but it was enough to make a close tag-up play and Joe's team prevailed. He had sacrificed himself and his ego for the good of the team.
Great job Joe!
