Palmer Construction and Remodel were the last team to make it into the playoffs, but they made the most of their opportunity on Sunday. They beat the 2, 3 and 5 seeds on their way to the championship on Sunday. In their first game against the Barking Geckos, they jumped out to an early 5-1 lead playing small ball as they went homer-less in game #1. They also played solid defense, only allowing 3 runs through the first 6 innings.
In game #2 against the 2nd seed Arbornauts, Palmer put their bats to work right away, putting up 9 runs in the top of the first inning. They kept the game at a safe distance until the 6th, when the Arbornauts came back to within 2 runs. Palmer answered with a 4 run 7th inning to give them some insurance runs.
Palmer looked vulnerable in the championship game as it was PB Army that started out the game showcasing some power for a 3 run lead. Palmer's defense picked it up big time though, only allowing 2 more runs in the 3rd before shutting out PB Army for the last 4 innings.
Garrett pulled a Bernard King on Sunday. After sitting out the first two games due to being sick, he came back for the championship game, giving his team an emotional lift that they would ride to the championship.
Playing on a bad ankle, Lacey came up in the bottom of the 7th inning and smacked a triple to center field, knocking in the tying run of the game. She would then come around on a single to score the game winner. Great Game Lacey!
