Fall Gentlemens Flag Football at Juanita HS Tuesdays

For what seems like the millionth time in Underdog history, the Freeballers and Winslow's Soldiers met up on the icy Juanita gridiron. These games are always close and down to the wire, and this championship game did not disappoint.
Usually, in these types of matchups, the team that makes the first (and usually only) defensive stand wins. This game started with that formula, as Winslow's Soldiers forced an early turnover and turned it into points. They are at their most dangerous with a lead, allowing them to take risks on the defensive side. The Freeballers matched scores, but failed on the conversion and never recovered.
Playing a smart ball control offense in the second half, Winslow's Soldiers kept the pressure on and held on for the victory. I'm sure this isn't the last time these two teams will meet, here's to many more battles!

Jerrod G earns this week's Player of the Week award for being a true leader for his Winslow's Soldiers. Week in and week out, Jerrod knows the game better than most, and relying on both his arm and legs is one of the best QB's in our league. Up by a score most of the game, Jerrod drove his team down the field for the game-clinching score, then helped his defense held off a last second attempt to tie the game. Well done out there, and good luck in the championship!
