Notes

First Place

Summer Co-ed Softball at Queen Anne Sundays

Foggy memories of last year's playoff run were all that were left after The Dugouts completed the championship game in the right, numero uno. A tough game in last year's championship proved to be a motivating factor for The Dugouts, as they seemed to pile on runs effortlessly in this go around.
An interesting tactic by pitcher Josh Weiner proved to be the real game changer. Knowing the field rules of only three over the fence home runs per game, Josh immediately gave those up in the first inning, knowing full well that every homerun after that would be an out. So what did Josh do every inning after? Easy. Just serve it up to where his opponents couldn't do anything but salivate at the slow, juicy pitches and smack them right over the fence...for an out. Again and again, Josh used this ploy to lure Honey Nut Ichiros hitter into homerland, only to be dismayed by the out they received.
But it wasn't just Josh's pitching that keyed the win, although it proved invaluable. Captain Dan Klabunde continued to provide the encouragement and support on both offense and defense, fueling his team with another burst of energy each time they seemed to be running low. A true team effort rallied The Dugouts past the Honey Nut Ichiros for the championship! Great season Dugouts!
