It was a strange night at Denny field downtown that included 2 balls destroyed by the fence and the ump recovering a third from the top of a tree.
After beating Balls Deep in game 1, Redfin needed a second victory to take home the bar coupon and champ shirts. Ashley L. was instrumental with her play at 3rd and also had some nasty kicks including a leadoff double to start the game.
Adrienne B helped out with awsome, unstoppable bunts and a tremendous running catch on the hill in right field for the 3rd out with runners on base. Michael F added 2 solo home runs to go with his plethora of catches and putouts.
In the bottom of the 6th, Heavily faulted was mounting a rally when Redfin made an incredible out at home plate leaving the sacks full and maintaining their 2 run lead. They added 4 more runs in the top of the seventh for a well deserved victory and championship!
Michael had 2 great performances in leading his team to the championship on Monday night. In game 1, he kicked 2 home runs, including one that carried over the right field fence. On D, he made several great catches and a superb throw out hitting the opponent in the arm at home ending a big rally.
In game 2, Michael continued the heroics on both sides of the ball. Defensively, he had a big unassisted double play, and a bases loaded running catch in the 6th. He added 2 more solo home runs for a total of 4 in the 2 games. A truly outstanding effort all around.
In the final game of the night, Doug gave Redfin the defensive boost it needed to take home the win. At first base, he saved many throws from going out of play, and used his long arms and legs to stretch out for the ball, and make the out.
He also used his great speed to make a few outs at first on his own. Great job, Doug!
Ashley earned a new nickname thanks in part to her stifling defense at third base. Seemed anything kicked her way just got caught by the "The Human Cobweb". Even her opponents were impressed by the enigma at third base.
With a smile on her face, she took all the attention with grace, and provided some great stories for the office on Thursday.
Great job Ashley!
This weeks player of the week goes to Tasha A. for her efforts in the last inning of the game. Tasha played solid in the early innings, directing traffic from the catchers position, and laid down some mean bunts but her honors of player of the week were earned later in the game. With a tight game that was played with solid defense, it went into the bottom of the 7th all tied up. With a solid lead-off kick, and one out recorded Tasha approached the plate with her team's hopes and aspirations on her shoulders. Tasha picked her spot as the pitch came in, and knocked a big shot right up the middle, making a tough painfull play for the defense. With her efforts she made it to 1st base safely and the winning score came in to win 6 to 5. Great game Tasha!
