Entering the playoffs as the number 5 seed, Cajones had to face an uphill battle just to get to the title game. Their championship game wouldn't be easy either. They faced off against the Slorollers in an epic fight that wouldn't be decided until the last inning.
Cajones staked themselves to an early lead after scoring 3 runs in the 1st, but the Slorollers fought right back grabbing a 6-3 advantage. With sheer will power Cajones kept on fighting back even though they were down for most of the game. They finally took the slimmest of leads in the 6th inning only to allow their opponent to score and tie it up in the bottom half. In the 7th it was time for Cajones to take charge. With precision bunting and well placed hits in the final frame, they put themselves in position to take the title. And after 3 quick outs to end the game, that's exactly what they did.
Way to show off your never say quit attitude and congrats on your well deserved title!
In a closely contested championship game there is usually many candidates for player for the week. Not this time, Putnam stood alone. When pitching, he routinely gobbled up the oppositions bunts and fired rockets to first for the out. In addition to his impressive fielding, Putnam drove in the go ahead run when the game was still tied in the 7th inning. Great all around game!
Jeff was the center fielder for Cajones. Anything kicked in his direction he snagged it. He was the black hole in the outfield.
This week it goes to the pitcher of the cajones who pitched a shutout through five and then for whatever reason they yanked him and blew the shut out.
