Defense wins championships. In this case, it wins close games. Garin was all over 1st base. He had a doubleplay early in the game that stopped a rally by the other team. He also had another one in the bottom of the 7th that ended the game. Way to play out there Garin!
What would a Dream Team be without Calen Regnier?? Calen had some monster kicks and was an excellent first baseman on Monday. His clutch RBIs and stellar hand-eye coordination on D helped his team to the OH SO close ALMOST a victory TIE. Nice Work, ALL STAR!
On Monday night, Tim belted a grand slam in the bottom of the first inning and made several plays at third bringing comparisons to not only Brooks Robinson but also the great Jeff Cirillo!
Baseball pants wearing JOE of Liverburst played THE BEST defensive game on Wednesday. His hustle and self sacrifice was admirable to say the least. He ended up w/4 catches and a friendly growth appearing above his knee from diving to make a play in right center. Your dedication to the team and reckless abandon shall never be forgotten!! Great job, JOE!!
Kyle had a great summer evening in the Seattle rain, leading his team on offense by going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a home run.
He was awesome on defense as well with several force outs and catches, and nearly adding a great diving catch on a ball twisting down the third base line.
Games create ALL STARS, but rivalries create KINGS! After the Kickball rivalry of 2012 at Ballard Boys and Girls Club between the Slorollers and the Loft, there were a lot of great performers but one person was crowned King. Chris Carlson w/his clutch kicks and reliable D, earned him player of the week, but when you consider his ability to route his players on base and his leadership in the dugout, his actions were that of a true KING! King of Kickball! So bow down the next time you encounter this master of ALL things Kickball!!
Mitch had a great game tonight. But it wasn't only his solid kicking on offense, or his staunch defensive plays at first base... it was the fun, honest approach to the game that impressed this staff member. Playing with a team known to have a competitive spirit, Mitch brought sexy back on a line drive play with two runners on, to first base where he made a finger tip catch before the ball hit the ground, and what appeared to be, completed a triple play by touching first base and then throwing to second to get the runner who didn't tag up. But being the honest Ab he is, he fessed that he didn't touch the bag at first and won the admiration of both teams and this staff member!
In a closely contested championship game there is usually many candidates for player for the week. Not this time, Putnam stood alone. When pitching, he routinely gobbled up the oppositions bunts and fired rockets to first for the out. In addition to his impressive fielding, Putnam drove in the go ahead run when the game was still tied in the 7th inning. Great all around game!
