While it is commonly said that "Defense Wins Championships", it's really a good game plan on both sides of the ball that usually decides matters. Talk Down Analog certainly proved they were prepared for the Little Lebowski Urban Achievers by playing steady on defense, and running a smooth ball control offense. As LLUA played deep to prevent TDAs tall receivers from making any big plays down field, Laura Reff kept running precise routs over the middle and underneath, finding open space time after time, making the defense pay for letting her run free. Early in the second half, it appeared that the strategy was failing, as TDA fell behind by two possessions. But then the defense stepped up with three huge plays. The first was on a fourth and short in which LLUA QB Matt Kim was stopped less than a yard short of the marker on a QB scramble. Then after a key score, Laura stepped in front of a pass and made a huge interception, which led to the game winning score for TDA. Then, needing one more stop, Corey Legg made an amazing interception on a deep ball, sealing the game and the championship for Talk Down Analog. Congratulations to the winners!
The race for the championship in Ballard is close to neck and neck when you look at the upper echelon of the league. One of the key factors in that race is Talk Down Analog wide receiver/safety, Nick Seabaugh. Nick has led his team to championship glory in the past, and is always a threat to have a big game. Monday night was no exception, as he led his team by catching four touchdown passes on offense and snatching an interception on defense, in a well earned victory over Odd Balls.
Cory's perfomance in both games on Monday night was of ALL STAR caliber. In the first half against Little Lebowski Urban Achievers, he was their go to guy coming up w/crucial catches, helping his team put some early points on the board. During his second game, once again, he was the QB's first look, finding him in the enzone over and over again. On one 15 yard pass to the back of the enzone, Mr. Legg decided to make it fancy and do a little tip toe dance, while performing a juggling act....afterwards in which he finally gained possesion in bounds for the TD....can't teach that! Great perfomance, Cory!!
