Starting the playoffs at the third spot of the Midcore division, Impinj expected to capture the title. However, they faced some pretty stiff competition from team MasterBatters and team Bottom of the 5th. In the semifinals, Impinj, led by Captain Ryan Thurston, dispatched the MasterBatters with two out of the park homeruns and 17 runs. After Bottom of the 5th finished off Kind of a Big Deal, Bottom of the 5th met Impinj for the finals on field 6 of Lower Woodland. In a defensive struggle, Impinj recaptured the lead in the bottom of the 5th inning on a homerun by Kyle Godfrey. Impinj never relinquished the lead, held the offensive power house that is Bottom of the 5th to only 8 runs, thus capturing the title.
In a lopsided 31-1 victory for team Impinj, Alberto Pesavento went an impressive 6 for 6 at the plate. He literally 'batted 1000'! Way to go Alberto and congrats to team Impinj for the best offensive showing of the day!
Angela was a force in the last game of the day - going 4 for 4 at the plate with a triple and helping to turn 2 Dp's as Impinj doubled up their opponents 18-9. After the game Angela was signed by the M's to a 15 day contract and will start this tuesday in Center Field for Adam Jones who needs a day off. Nice work Angela....
Against the defending champions, Paul Galli provided a clutch 3 run home run to take the lead from team Indiana Jones. Thus, providing Impinj a huge early season victory and perhaps some extra bragging rights.
