At the start of the season Balls Deep announced their intention to win the Sunday Lower Woodland Park Coed Softball league in a press conference that was nationally televised. With the largest payroll in the league Deep seemed the favorite. However, their season was not with out incident, on more than one occasion, sparks flew between their a couple of players and only beat their opponent by 9 runs, instead of the traditional 21 runs. This sort of adversity can only be met by a leader, and Ryan Thurston was just the man for that job. Ryan pulled his team together for the playoffs, with two Player of the Game Awards. Great job Balls Deep, good luck in the off season.
Winning two POG awards in two games, Ryan Thurston proved his status and his salary as the marquee player in all the USL Fall Leagues. Hitting three out of the park home runs in two games, 15 RBIs, perfect batting average and some stealer plays in left field, Ryan looked as if he was a high school man playing in a Babe Ruth league. Perhaps USL should start testing for performance enhancing drugs, I guess that would take all the fun out of it.
