Not all championships are won in intense last minute situations by the skin of the teeth. Sometimes a team just rolls their way through the playoffs and championship, in an open display of the power and skill that got them there in the first place. The Shockers of Wednesday Nights at Sunset are once such team.
From the start of the evening, all eyes were on Alex Ohashi, whose steady diet of Red Bull, beer, strikes and spares made him a force to be reckoned with. Alex didn't disappoint in his first game with a 205 as the Shockers made quick work of the Split Lickers, beating them by almost a hundred pins.
Across the lanes, Know Your Roll was having a little bit tougher time with the Koko Puffs, but ultimately managed to secure their spot in the championship.
In the championship, team leader Alex struggled to find his game. Would the door be left open for Know Your Roll to sneak their way to a title? NO! It was Alex's older brother Todd- back from his bowling hiatus- that stole the show and sealed the win and championship for the Shockers.
The Split Lickers took third place and left the Koko Puffs crying in their cereal.
Congratualtions to the Shockers, Winter 07 BTB Champs!
Because of his schedule, Tod had only been able to make one night of bowling so far this season: the first one. However, he was determined to make his presence felt once his team was in the playoffs. And a dominating presence it was. At a time when his brother and team leader Alex was struggling a little, Tod picked up the slack and delivered a 195 in the championship to bring it home for the Shockers. Congratulations to Tod and the Shockers!
In a 4-0 victory in week 3, it was a total team effort for the Shockers. Although, there was one player who did stand out among the rest. Alex Ohashi rolled a 265 in his only game of the night, which included 11 strikes and 8 consecutive at one point. Keep in mind that 12 strikes in one game means a 300 score so that means Alex was only one strike shy of Big Turkey Bowling's first ever 300 game (although it still counts for 205). Congrats to Alex and the rest of the Shockers on the great effort.
