The gentlemen from HSPU and the Fear Boners have been through their share of battles through the years, and each was a worthy finalist for the Hardcore Men's Championship. But when the chips were down on Sunday, HSPU and their methodical ball-control offense proved to be unstoppable. Rob Williams' crew went the entire championship game without punting or turning the ball over, finally killing the clock on their last drive, making their 33-30 lead good enough for another championship. Congrats to the winners!
Midway through the second half of the Championship Game, Rob Williams took a shot to the groin and looked to be hurt badly. But Rob gutted it out, and continued to perform, leading his team to another touchdown, and a clock-killing drive in his teams' 33-30 victory over The Fear Boners.
What a day for the #5 seeded HSPU in the Hardcore bracket. Playing in their first Sunday league in a few seasons, they toppled former champions in both games, needing a late TD to beat Malicious 39-36 in the first, then stepping up and securing a huge game-ending INT to top the Lawn Wranglers 33-32. The star of the day was Steve Vandy, who had a clutch pick-6 in the first game and then ended the second with another INT. HSPU will have their hands full with the Fear Boners next week, they'll need to play just as well as they did on this blistering Sunday. Congrats, and good luck the rest of the way!
Heading into the playoffs, HSPU looked to get themselves into prime position for a run at Championship Glory. In a 50-20 rout of Real Goons, Mitchell Sweatsoff led the way. His five touchdowns, to go along with some key defensive plays, were instrumental in a key victory to end the regular season.
