Check the history books, and you will notice that no team with lower than an 8th seed has ever won the prestigious March Madness College Basketball tournament in the contest's long history. We here at Underdog may occasionally swap out basketballs for kickballs, but across sports we recognize that odds tend to stack against low seeded opponents. As the 11th seed in the Lower Woodlands Thursday League Softcore tournament, the Master-Batters would have to defeat the League's stiffest competition, in consecutive instances. And wouldn't you know, that's exactly what happened. Prevailing through a continuous series of close matches, the Master-Batters climaxed in a long and arduous game to knock off the top-seeded Sparkle Mountain Chupacabras.
Congratulations to the Master-Batters, and thank you to all who participated in the league for a great season!
Pitching both ends of a double header is huge. Pitching both games of a pressure packed playoff doubleheader is amazing! With Kate on the mound runs were hard to find. Whenever Master Batters' opponents tried to get a rally started, Kate pitched out of the jam maintaining her teams lead. Her outstanding pitching led the 11 seeded Cinderella team to 2 big upsets and on to the semi-finals next week. Way to go Kate!
