You could cut the tension in the corner with one of those funky fork spoon hybrids you used to get in school. Rollin' Dirty had rolled into the playoffs with all of the confidence and swagger of the New England Patriots. Several teams looked to play the role of spoiler, but could anyone pull it off?
Down early in the first game, Rollin' Dirty looked lost and frustrated, and Team Grab Ass looked to pull off the upset. But after a Big Turkey run in the sixth frame, they pulled away for the win. In the other semifinal, Rollin' Dirty's doppelganger, Rollin' Turkey, looked to join their sister team in the finals. But No F in Strikes were too much to overcome, and steamrolled their way into the final.
In the final, NFIS looked poised to pull off the Giant-sized upset early on. But poised by the strength of Frankin's 203, Rollin Dirty cruised to the championship.
Last week, I talked about looking beyond the numbers. This week, when a big number hits you in the face, you can't help but ignore it. Most people would be thrilled with a 136, but Franklin followed that up with a 205 in a rout of Your Mom Likes to Bowl. Going into the last week Rollin' Dirty is rolling strong in first place. Can the titans be toppled?
Katie was very obviously frustrated. Unable to get anything going in her first game, her frustration level kept growing until she slapped the ball return furiously. But she finished off her first game with a strike. And then rebounded superbly in the second game, leading her team in the second game to lead her team over Mines in the Gutter.
In a tough 3-way match where all three teams were only separated by a few pins, Franklin Williams came up large. He bowled a strong 144 and 132 to lead Rollin' Dirty to a 2-pin victory.
Wednesday night at Sun Villa, Rollin Dirty came out swinging... uh, their arms in a ball rolling motion. They proved why they were former champs by creaming their opponents, and cracking the 600 pin mark for total pinfall in both games, which only one other team did in one game. They had two bowlers (Franklin and Bryan) crack 200, and they set the tone for the rest of the season. The tone? Sour for anyone who gets in their way.
