The veteran-laden kickball squad, Recess Renegades, have been here before, but that does not make what they did this season any less impressive.
Entering the playoffs a perfect 7-0, the Renegades knew they championship would not be just handed to them. They would have to fight for it. In the semi-finals, they needed a walk-off hit to squeak by their opponent 10-9.
The championship game would not be any easier as they had to fight tooth and nail to come out on top. The Renegades 8-7 victory over Double Play Me was one of the most thrilling championship games Underdog Sports has seen.
Congrats to the Recess Renegades for pulling off an amazing 9-0 undefeated season and a well-deserved championship!!
In a nail-biting championship game, Brand was the steady rock the Renegades could count on. HIs perfect pitching kept the opponent out of rhythm. He fielded bunts like a champ and calmed down his squad when things got hectic. For his amazing pitching skills, Brand is our Player of the Week!
After holding off a 7th inning comeback in the first game of their double header, the Recess Renegades faced another challenge in Game 2. Defense proved to be the difference in a game that was tied at 1-1 from the 1st to the 6th inning. Outfielder Maya Marder ran down several balls in the outfield, killing potential scoring chances and preserving the tie games until her team took the lead for good in the bottom of the 6th.
In a close game where the Renegades' females were dominating the score board suddenly the game got intense. Bottom of the 7th and bases loaded Caitlin made the final out at 3rd to seal a 3 to 5 victory. Prior to that final out she also had the first two, catching 2 line drives!! Great hands Caitlin.
