It was a stormy, rainy, muddy day at cascade playfield. The Mooseknucklers and Manhandlers showed up ready to play. The pitcher of the mooseknucklers started the game by pitching between 2 large puddles. The manhandlers were ready for anything. Both teams were having trouble rounding 3rd base (mud hole) and in the bottom of the 4th inning the game was close. Tied at 4, either team had a good shot of becoming the Underdog champions. There were huge kicks from both teams and the women well educated base runners. But the game took a dramatic turn in the 5th inning. The bases were loaded for the mooseknucklers when one of their players kicked a huge grand slam to right center field. The Manhandlers outfielder outran the kick but he had to step onto the "out of play" sidewalk to make contact with the kickball. The grand slam kick separated the teams by 4 runs and the manhandlers were unable to overcome the deficit. All in all, this was a well played game by both teams.
James helped his team, the mooseknucklers, with a huge grand slam in the 5th inning of the championship game against the Manhandlers. His kick created a 4 run lead that proved to tough to overcome.
Erin St. Pierre of the Mooseknucklers gave her team great defense in RF on Wednesday to secure victory. Time and again the Bada Bings would line kicks to RF to try and get a rally going, but each time St. Pierre stood in their way. Perhaps her best play came with the bases loaded and two outs in the fifth, the Bada Bings had a chance to tie or take the lead. But St. Pierre ranged forward once again to make the play and end the inning. Congratulations to Erin and the Mooseknucklers.
