Summer Midcore Kickball Downtown Mon/Wed

Solidfying the OIW outfield, Gavin covered major ground to rob his opponents of some sure extra base kicks.
But the play that earned him this dubious honor, was late in the game. A short kick towards Gavin found him with the ball in right field and the P.O.G. Sarah Cotter rounding third and attempting to score.
After watching a few of his teammates overthrow their target previously, Gavin made up his mind to make it a foot race to home plate. Moving with surprising speed, Gavin beat her to home by a step, killed the rally, and earned cheers from his entire team!

Erin St. Pierre of the Mooseknucklers gave her team great defense in RF on Wednesday to secure victory. Time and again the Bada Bings would line kicks to RF to try and get a rally going, but each time St. Pierre stood in their way. Perhaps her best play came with the bases loaded and two outs in the fifth, the Bada Bings had a chance to tie or take the lead. But St. Pierre ranged forward once again to make the play and end the inning. Congratulations to Erin and the Mooseknucklers.

This weeks player of the week goes to Jennifer Shipe! She played a great 3rd base, racking up many solo outs. Nothing got past her at her position, and her intensity was as if it were the 2008 Olympic kickball tryouts. Great job Jennifer!

Sometimes it just boils down to who makes the PLAY of the game. In Kevin Egli's case, it happened so fast, it was hard to know it was the play of the game, until the dust settled, and the game was over. The Bada Bings took a hard-earned two run lead into the bottom of the seventh. But with two on, two out, and the winning run coming to the plate with a big leg, things were a little dicey. As the kicker booted a deep ball, Kevin ran to get good position under the ball for an easy catch, but at the last second, his footing completely left him, and he found himself falling wildly to the ground. A miss of the ball would have easily scored the two runs, and maybe even the game winner, but Kevin showed remarkable concentration, reeling in the fly ball even as he ate dirt. ESPN the Ocho here he comes.

This weeks player of the week goes to Chunk "O" Llama. With only 7 players suited and ready, Chunk had lots of field to cover and did so greatly. Thinking there would be lots of gaps with only 7 players, Chunk coverd lots of real-estate and made great defensive plays to get a win. Even when it looked bleak when one of their players went down quick and hard looking like he may never get up, they still chalked up a W. Great job Chunky Boy!

This weeks player of the week goes to Matt Carter. He plays for "Off in the Woods", and strong team in spirit, and kickball talent. With his team dressed in fishnet, and feathered Boa's, he helped his team with his awesome D. If the ball was in the air there was a good chance Matt was under it to catch it. Great job Matt, as well as all the other pimps and Ho'son your team!!

In a tight playoff game, Alden brought a bit more intensity into this game. Playing very solid in the field, shwiong off tons of speed, and dareing base-runners to take extra bases. He kicks it a mile, and drove in lots of the runs for s team!! Great job Alden!!
