The intensity was high for the championship game, and the lie-ups on both sides were well thought out! In a very close game, both teams showed lots of defense, and kept it close. But it was The finger lickin goods came out on top of this match-up 3 runs to 2. These two teams showed why they were in the championship game, with their high skill level, and new knowledge of the game. Great job finger lickin goods, I believe you will cross paths with the Blue Ballerz soon in the future for another great game.
This weeks player of the week goes to Johnnie "5" of "the finger lickin goods". He was in tough competition for this honor, with great players on both sides. Playing hurt with a pulled hammy, which was not apparent on a very long triple he kicked, his hustle also in the field showed no signs of pain. He earned the championship along with player of the week. Great job "5"!!
John played solid defense throughout Finger Lickin's first round victory, including a diving catch in LF with utter disregard for body and property, trashing a perfectly good pair of glasses.
Johnny pHive made a series of dazzling plays in the outfield, including a sliding catch in shallow center for the last out of the game.
In a seasaw scoring game John led his team offensively with a monster grand slam late in the game to give his team the lead.
Though his team would not hold onto the lead, John held the team on his shoulders. Great game John!
John had an amazing first game. Not only was he a nightmare to his opponents on offense, driving in half the Finger Lickin runs; but on defense, twice he had rallying killing plays including an unassisted double play late in the game.
