The A team put together another dramatic win this Wednesday, and they did it as a team, with contributions on all sides. A few big kicks here and there brought them back in a game they trailed most of the time. However, the play of the game came at the end. Clinging to a tennuous one run lead in the bottom of the inning on defense, the A Team got themselves into a bases loaded jam with two outs. Dorell from the Manhandlers, who earlier in the game kicked the snot out of a ball for a three run home run, stepped to the plate. However, this time his scorching line drive was snagged by the first baseman, and that was the game- the A Team holding on for another big win.
Campbell provided strong all-around play on both sides of the ball for the A-team. He used his quickness behind the plate to track down the opponents' bunts and also sped his way to a 3-run home run when his team needed it most.
Fletch! He brought the enthusiasm and the fun. Fletch put on a model display of kickball. At kick, he put some good wood on the ball and stayed dangerous on the basepaths. On defense, he played shortstop to a level that even the 'Wizard', Ozzie Smith, would applaude. But most importantly, he fueled the team spirit!
The indy team spent most of their first game playing from behind as Caffe Ladro Foamballs built up a nice lead on them. After a big rally in the top of the 7th, though, they took a lead of 6-4 into the bottom half of the inning. Caffe Ladro wasn't giving up, though, adding a run and putting runners on first and second with only one out in the inning. Just when it looked like the A Team's bid for a comeback win might fall short, FLetch La Barge closed the door with a game ending unassisted double play- first making a diving catch at the mound, and then rushing to second to force out a runner who failed to tag. Fletch's clutch play was only overtaken by his fun and carfree attitude, as he got the indys off to a great start.
