Frackers, Keep it Secret, Keep it Safe, The Zombies, Wolfpack of 10
POTW: Sam Haggart
Just Kickin' It
This week's player of the week goes to Sam Haggart of Just Kickin' it. Sam or "slammin' sam" as he is also know as, brought some serious rookie talent to the field on U-District's KB opener. Slammin Sam had some big hits but more importantly played the field smart and hard...making some big plays to end a few tough innings. Also, what the KB world needs to know of Sam that won't show up on any stat sheets, is his ability to lead and have a fun time. His team is full of spirit and mad skillz:) Great job out there, Sam!!!

POTW: Gordon Hill
The Zombies
On this sunny but cool Monday evening it was The Zombies squaring off against Just Kickin' It. The Zombies jumped out to an early lead with Just Kickin' It hot on their trail! At the midpoint The Zombies were holding onto a 2 run lead, but Just Kickin' It had the bases loaded & were threatening. With the ball kicked on a hard shot which would have surely tied up the game, out of nowhere came The Zombies' Gordon Hill to make a great catch to kill the rally. Then in the bottom of the 7th with the Zombies up by just one run Just Kickin' It laced a shot that looked like extra bases, but once again Gordon Hill made a dramatic diving catch just barely off the ground to seal the victory! Congrats to The Zombies' Gordon Hill our Player of the Week for his defensive prowess!

POTW: Johnny Stutsman
Frackers
This week's player of the week goes to Johnny Stutsman of the new and talented Frackers. Johnny played an outstanding game on Wednesday night against the rouh and tough Wolfpack of 10. Even though it was Johnny's first time pitching, he kept the ball right down the middle with little to no bounce so the kickers could "kick" away freely. Also, when a bunt occured, Johnny was a speed demon racing down the ball and throwing numerous runners out. He is, without a doubt, an exceptional Underdog KB pitcher. Great job out there, Johnny.
Frackers, Julie and Friends, Just Kickin' It, Wolfpack of 10
POTW: Jeff Layton
Cajones
This one actually goes out to Jeff and Amanda, for the spectacular dual defensive plays in outfield and short stop positions. Perfect harmony on the kickball field can only mean perfect harmony in marriage... congrats and many happy years.
It was high drama at the University Playfields as Keep It Secret, Keep It Safe squared off against Julie and Friends. The game remained tied throughout the match as each team answered back when the other tried taking the lead. Then in the bottom of the 7th inning it was Drew "Awesome" Woodruff who would step up and smash a drive into right field scoring two runs and snatching the victory in walk-off fashion. Congrats to Keep It Secret, Keep It Safe on their dramatic victory and to Drew Woodruff the Player Of The Week!

POTW: David Hasler
The Zombies
Although the field was soft, the play on Monday night was anything but soft as The Zombies took on Julie and Friends. Julie and Friends had the lead for most of the game, but like a bad horror flick The Zombies simply wouldn't die. In the 6th inning some aggressive baserunning by The Zombies team forced a throwing error by Julie and Friends which gave The Zombies the lead along with a couple insurance runs. In the 7th inning with one out and one on Julie and Friends were kickballing for their lives. It was at that point that a hard kick up the middle was snatched by The Zombies' David Hasler who snagged the ball out of the air for one out and ran to 2nd base to force the final out of the game & preserve the win! Congrats to David Hasler not only on the amazing unassisted double-play but on being this week's Player of the Week!!!
Frackers, Julie and Friends, Manhandlers, The Zombies
POTW: Matt Kreamer
Cajones
Matt played ARodesque at 3rd base. The sun was out and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Matt shined just as much as the sun. There was a ball that was kicked like a line drive between 2nd and 3rd, Matt had no problem making a running catch for the out. In the next inning he made another amazing over the head catch for the 3rd out. Way to go Matt.
This week's Player of the Week comes to us from the Frackers. The Frackers came back with a vengence their 2nd game after dropping the 1st game of their double-header. Their game vs. Keep It Secret Keep It Safe was tight through all 7 innings and in the bottom of the 7th with the scored tied it was the Frackers' Lindsay Vespignani who scored the walk-off game winning run from 2nd base who provided the dramatic end to a great game! Not to mention the only thing harder than her last name was trying to get her to make any errors on defense at first base where she was rock solid all game long. Congrats to Frackers on their big win & to Lindsay Vespignani on her much deserved Player Of The Week honors!
When it rains, it pours. Also when it rains, the grass is slippery and mud is made. That was no problem for Sean. He used it to his advantage and had some deep kicks that had fielders slipping and sliding in the outfield trying to make the catch. Good job Sean, you and Mother Nature made a good team.
Frackers, Just Kickin' It, Keep it Secret, Keep it Safe, Manhandlers
POTW: Alyssa Pallari
Cajones
Ichiro better watch his back because there was a better right fielder at the University Playground on Wednesday. I'm pretty sure if there was a wall she would have scaled it and came down with the catch. Alyssa made an amazing over-the-shoulder catch and had some nice kicks that helped her team produce a lot of runs. What made it even better is she had a beautiful smile the whole time. There is a new candidate for a gold glove in right field and her name is Alyssa. Great job out there!
Cajones, Julie and Friends, Keep it Secret, Keep it Safe, Manhandlers
POTW: Kellen Cheney
Just Kickin' It
It was the bottom of the last inning, bases were loaded and "Just Kickin It" needed someone to step up and make a play to save their 2-run lead. Just like he had done all game, it was Kellen Cheney who came through in the clutch by making the final two outs, one coming on a dramatic throw out at home plate. For his consistent defense and late game heroics Kellen is our Player of the Week this week. Congrats my man!

POTW: Abbey Perkins
The Zombies
This week's player of the week goes to Abbey Perkins of the all star kickballin' team, The Zombies. Abbey did an amazing job on defense as a pitcher and had some SWEET kicks. As the pitcher, Abbey managed to throw strikes even though she was competing w/the thick grass of Cowen Park. This is SOOOO important to both teams b/c HEY, it's kickball and everyone wants a chance to kick homers and throw the ball at people;) On top of her fabulous pitching performance, Abbey laid down some awesome kicks reaching base nearly every time. Great job out there, Abbey!!!
What can I say? Sean pulled no stop in the championship game and was not gonna let his team down. He played superb defense all game long and hustled when his team needed it. With a big lead already, Sean kicked a 3 run homerun to seal the win. Without that things might have been a little different. He also stopped the momentum of the Manhandlers, by making the final out of great come back. Great game Sean, and great performance.
