Summer Co-ed Softball at Greenlake Sundays

Nathan was a terror at the plate all day. He hit 3 home runs and had 3 triples in his two games. Nathan drove in a ton of runs and was involved in the Sluggernauts' offense all day. Nathan carried the offense the offense and made a couple nice plays in the outfield to go with his offense. He was a full team player today and a big part of the reason Sluggernauts had such a good day.

Liz had a good game today at the park. She made a nice play in left field and also hit a couple balls hard but ended up with only one hit. Liz has constantly improved throughout her time with Underdog and has made herself into a good player. Offensively she is now a threat to line a ball over somebody's head and can make a lot of the plays put in the outfield too.

Balls Deep won both of their games in a double header on Sunday afternoon despite a serious injury from one of their star players. In their second game with a tight score, Josh stretch a single into a double, sacrificing his body but badly hurting his ankle in the process. Josh wasn't able to finish the contest, but his max-effot attitude left his teammates inspired to give it their all in the final two innings of the game. Balls Deep scored 5 more runs and shutout their opponent in the top of the 7th to hang onto a 12-9 victory and win one for their fallen comrade who led the rally charge.

In the first round of the playoffs at Greenlake, the most exciting game by far was the 8-inning thriller between Always Hungover and the Sluggernauts, ending 16-15 in favor of the Hangovers. A game as epic as this one naturally requires an equally epic cast of players and Chris Howard rose to the top. The man with the glove he was, covering large swaths of field catching everything hit his way, each out proving extremely valuable and making in the tight affair.

Other standouts included player of the game Erica, whose catch sealed the deal, and Jansen of the vanquished 'Nauts, whose 2-out, 3-run homer in the bottom of the seventh forced the extra decider.
