The Crows win big!!!
Ahhhh! Now THIS is what summer softball is supposed to feel like! Finally some nice sunshine to go with the ping of the bats. In the primetime game of the day it was The Crows playing the 2nd game of their double-header against The Ceiling Camels. Both teams came to play some defense in this game with excellent defensive stops by both sides. By the end of the 3rd inning The Ceiling Camels held a narrow 7-5 lead, but something interesting happened right at the end of the 3rd inning as a crow flew at eye level right through the middle of the outfield.....was this a sign? If it was apparently The Crows got the message because in the 4th inning their bats woke up putting up a 4 spot, another 8 in the 5th, another 4 in the 6th and finally another 4 in the 7th! Stealing the spotlight on the defensive side was The Crows' pitcher Greg Stackhouse who kept The Ceiling Camels off balance pitching 4 straight shutout innings! Also, during that 8 run inning The Crows busted out a secret weapon....bubble gum! As the whole team chewed away in the now famous "bubble gum inning" the runs kept stacking up behind The Crows' Michael Bils who capped the bubble gum inning with an in-the-park Grand Slam! We may need to run some tests on that bubble gum to make sure it's ASA Certified....Congrats to The Crows on an impressive 25-15 victory & to Co-Players Of The Week, Greg Stackhouse AND Michael Bils!!!

Bad Booze Bears
The Bad Booze Bears were down big early on in the game and continued to chip away setting the table for some late game heroics from Adam. He came to the plate in the bottom of the 6th with his team trailing 8-6 and the bases loaded. He was probably nervous under that calm, collected exterior as he stepped to the plate. The second pitch of the at-bat Adam launched a shot to deep center field for a Grand Slam Home-Run that put his team on top by 2! The lead would hold as the Bad Booze Bears took the late inning win. Great job Adam!

Robert "Big TImber" Mott
Barking Geckos
"Big Timber" decided to take the game into his own hands by hitting a home run deep into the forest (living up to his nickname) to go with the two inside-the-park home runs. Despite Epstein's Mudda's valiant effort and howling fans, "Big TImber" is this week's player of the week.

Keep swinging.

The Bail Bonds Men and Women were fighting from behind almost the entire game. The kept it close and in the last inning they got just the right amount of offense to get that +1 run over a very strong Epstein's Mudda. Great game by both teams.

Darby played a great all around game as the Barking Geckos coasted to a victory on this hot Sunday afternoon. In the field she played third base all game and really made all the plays. At the plate she was 3-5 and drove in a couple and also crossed the dish for two more runs. Great playing Darby!

Chico's Bail Bonds wins in dramatic fashion!
Wait, is this summer league? As mother nature keeps toying with our softball emotions with this continued dicey 'summer' she's giving us the day started out with some heavy summer mist, but then broke free into a nice little summer afternoon. In the closest game of the day it was Chico's Bail Bonds facing Bad Booze Bears. While Chico's jumped out to an early lead, triple B was never far behind them and just wouldn't go away! Helping Chico's Bail Bonds to keep Bad Booze Bears at arms distance was Wayne Fuller. Over the course of this game Wayne had an in-the-park home run & a way-out-of-the-park home run, but it wasn't until the final inning that he put his biggest stamp on this game. As Chico's held a 5 run lead going into the 7th inning, triple B came roaring back with a 5 spot of their own to tie the game. So, in the bottom of the 7th inning with the winning run on at 3rd base, Chico's Wayne Fuller stepped to the plate & delivered a hot grounder just out of the reach of the opposing shortstop for the walk-off game winning RBI! Congrats to Chico's Bail Bonds on a dramatic 16-15 victory & to Wayne Fuller this week's Player Of The Week!!!

Bad Booze Bears win the title!
As this summer day in Seattle changed every time the wind blew, so were the winds of change blowing at Northacres Field. Perennial powerhouse teams like the Barking Geckos, PB Army and Chico's Bail Bonds had to settle for less than the title today as the #4 seeded Bad Booze Bears made their way towards the proverbial podium. While most teams take it easy the day before playoffs the Bad Booze Bears decided that it's better to stay loose by playing in Saturday's Red Rubber Showdown Kickball Tournament and then spend the evening winning flip-cup at Leny's! Hey, whatever works! Da Bears didn't take the easy road to the title either....first they faced off against Epstein's Mudda and won handily. Next they faced the #1 seeded Barking Geckos where the Bears again put on a hitting display to win 20-12. Finally they squared off against PB Army who put up a great fight in the Championship game, but ultimately the Bad Booze Bears were victorious! Their victory was so well-rounded and attack so well-balanced that choosing a single Player of the Game was challenging. Checking in with their stats manager it was Jeff Ching who jumped out going 5-for-5 from the plate with 3 doubles! He was also death to flying things in right centerfield as his swift feet and sure-handed glove robbed more than one opponent of any thoughts of a comeback! Special congrats to Jeff Ching, Playoff MVP and Player Of The Week! Congratulations to Bad Booze Bears on their well deserved Championship victory, you all look great in your NEW gray Champs shirts...wear them with pride!!!
