ITCHY
This week's Player of the Week goes to Theary of ITCHY. Though they fell short in their match up, Theary proved to be a force on the court. Her passes were smooth and accurate all the time. Theary showed a great amount of hustle running from sideline to sideline to pop balls back to the other side. Her competitive edge is going to help ITCHY go pretty far this season. Great job tonight Theary

Shining Gem
Shining Gem
Chewblocka
On a night where Chewblocka lost 2-1, Chewblocka's future outlook is brighter than ever. The first set was bad, the second set was a near comeback and the third set became a victory. Chewblocka was growing as a volleyball team right in front of our eyes, and a lot of that was from the great play of Dasha. She had a knack for the big moments, like sending a spike when no one expected it or even skying above the net to block an attempted tip. Dasha's passes were perfect and you could tell that she just knows how to play the game. Chewblocka may be a hidden gem primed to winning the Softcore division. Great job tonight Dasha and Chewblocka!

Shaun
HIttin It From The Back
Shaun brought the power tonight with his thunderous hits. The balls will probably have to be checked after the performance he had because the pounding the balls took were surely damaging. Shaun even had some onlookers as he took his swings. Hittin It From The Back is looking like an early favorite with the power hitter they have. Great job Shaun!

Henri
Henri
Block Ops
Henri had an amazing game tonight, showcasing his serving and setting skills. The sets were perfect, always at the right height for the hitters to kill it. No matter how far he had to reach for the pass, Henri was still able to pop it up. Henri also never missed on a serve. Every serve went over and was a task for the opposition to receive. His serves had some velocity on them and even sent over some towering serves as well. Everything Henri did tonight left the opposition in shambles. Henri will continue to bring it on a nightly basis so watch out league because the Block Ops are coming.

Balls In!
This week's Player of the Week goes to none other than Ben Beal from Balls In!

Ben bumped, set, and spiked this way into this recognition by his contagious sportsmanship and joy of volleyball.

He aided his team with many powerful spikes and solid sets. Even if his team was struggling, Ben had a smile on his face, ready to encourage his team.

Ben exudes what Underdog is all about - fun, competitive, and friendly.

Watch out for Ben and Balls In! this Thursday 4/24 at 7:30pm vs Chewblocka on Court 3!!

Colin Hirsch
Colin Hirsch
509 block party
509 Block Party has a knack of playing big when they play big time teams. Tonight they played arguably the most talented and dominant team in the league and almost came out with the upset. Colin provided the tenacity and leadership tonight. He put his body on the line time after time to dig spikes and chase down balls from far away. Colin competes night in and night out but keeps his composure the whole time. 509 is a great team and Colin is the glue that keeps everyone sane. 509 will yet again compete for the championship this season and after the group performance that they put forth tonight, there's no reason they can't win the whole thing. Great job 509 and congrats Colin!

The Yellow Kings
This week's Player of the Week goes to arguably the best setter in the league, Kanako. Every pass was perfect whether she was bumping or setting and it all came effortlessly. These perfect dimes helped The Yellow Kings make quick work of 509 Block Party in two straight sets. With these types of sets, The Yellow Kings should see themselves hitting their way to the championship next week. Great job tonight Kanako!

Love of the Game
On a night of high stakes, sadly this team lost their first two matches. However, what they did after this loss earns them Team of the (Final) Week.

Immediately after their season had come to a close, Block Ops wanted to keep playing. They inspired another team (Block You Like a Hurricane) to play a few games on another court. Unphased by defeat, they laughed and rallied for almost an hour.

A team like Block Ops is why Underdog Sports Leagues exists: Love of the Game.
