Co-Champs Crowned
Dirt Devils and Balls Deep battle to tie

The Dirt Devils and Balls Deep both played three games on Tuesday night as each won their first two games to reach the 9:30 championship game.

The championship game was battle from the beginning, with the Dirt Devils taking a three run lead in the top of the first only to see Balls Deep score four in the bottom of the first. The Dirt Devils took a 10-6 lead to the bottom of the fourth inning, but Balls Deep responded with a six run frame to take a 12-10 lead headed to the fifth inning. The Dirt Devils tied the game at 12 with two runs in the fifth. After that point, the defense took over with fine play on both sides and the game was tied at the end of 7th. Unfortunately, the time had reached 11:00 p.m. and the lights went out only moments after the last out was made in the 7th.

Both teams were declared Co-Champions and each were deserving after four and half hours of outstanding play on the diamond. Players of the game were Kim Howard of the Dirt Devils and Amy Collins of Balls Deep. Both were second basemen who took ground balls to the body during the game, but refused to give in to pain and continued to play hard for their teams.
