Fall Softcore Kickball at Ballard Boys and Girls Club Sundays

Christine earned this week's Player of the Week for her outstanding efforts on the offensive, defensive, and "sportsmanship" sides of the ball. Her first at-bat didn't go so well, getting a little over-excited and crushing it well in front of the plate (twice!), but by her third time up she was a seasoned pro. She stepped up in the bottom of the fifth, her team tied in a 5-5 struggle, and crushed a ball just over the short-stop's head. She tumbled into first base just for good measure, then slipped and crawled her way to second after her teammate kicked her forward. She came around to score what would be the go-ahead run much to everyone's delight. Christine was a joy to have around and really lifted everyone's spirits. Congrats!

In addition to his outstanding play on both sides of the ball, Cole-Train ["woo-woo"] also earned player of the week honors for his outstanding sportsmanship as well. Offensively, Cole had some huge kicks for a total of 7 RBI's, including a huge grand slam home run in the 1st inning [T-Ballin had 2 grand slams in the inning to take a quick 9-0 lead.] Defensively, he just made plays from wherever he was on the field--big catches and great throws. Thanks for playing hard but keeping it fun.

Dan was a model sportsman last Sunday at the Ballard Boys and Girls Club. While pitching for T-Ballin, Dan fielded a comebacker ball that gave him an opportunity to tag out an opposing baserunner, who was headed for third base. When the baserunner tripped and fell over, Dan opted not to throw the ball at her. Though the baserunner ended up safely making it to third, Dan showed that there is definitely a place for civility in kickball.
