Summer Midcore Kickball at Ballard Boys and Girls Club M/W

Tera was a superstar at second base. She was diving for kicks, stretching for throws, and playing like a wily veteran.
On top of it all, she kept a great attitude throughout the entire game, even when the score got a bit lopsided.
She delighted both teams with her personal highlight reel...

What looked like an early blowout turned into an extra innings nail biter Wednesday night in Ballard, as the Kick You Downers took on the Teabaggers. The Downers had a big lead early, while the Teabaggers failed to score in the first few innings. However, the Teabaggers scored a run here and there until Amber Mathai stepped to the plate and evened up the game with one swoop of the leg. A fielding error helped her turn her kick into a three run homer, causing the tie which eventually sent the game into extra innings. The Teabaggers didn't win, but Amber's individual effort gave them a great shot.

Craig Whitmer is your player of the day with his outstanding pitching performance. Whether it was keeping the opposing kickers off balance or playing excellent bunt defense, Craig was the difference as Booze on First handed Caught in the Zipper the loss. Great job Craig!

Zack had 3 unassisted outs at First Base.

Dan had a great attitude throughout the game, catching 4 pop flies at first and adding 3 more assists through the game. He also took the score way ahead for the Finger Lickin Goods when in the bottom of the 3rd inning he scored a GRAND SLAM, doubling his team's score! Awesome game, Dan!

The whole team showed excellent sportsmanship, "lending" several of their players to Caught In The Zipper, who had to forfeit. They made what could have been a very disappointing show into an intense amount of fun for both teams (and the official *wink*), even to add extra innings as time allowed to keep playing. A few of the "Zippers" even went so far as to say, "I'm glad our team didn't show - this is way more fun!"

jeremy had the Game winning run in the bottom of the seventh along with the double that set up the victory. he also hurt his shoulder early in the game but had the strength and mental commitment to stick it out and be the hero in the championship game. good game jeremy.
