With a close late-inning game on the line, Scott read a twisting line drive, snared the kick with his fingertips, and immediately had thought to double up the runner from second base...effectively killing the late game rally and preserving the win. Great job Scott!

POTW: Rhonna G
Violent Chubbies
Jumping right back in the saddle, Oliver settled into another season of kickball with a solid all around game.
In the outfield he covered group and caught anything that went near him. At the plate, he dropped a doozy down the right field line to contribute offense. Good game Oliver!

POTW: Camille Meyer-Arendt
Ninja Turtles
Camille's team had been shut out until late in the game. Camille hit a bases loaded triple to tie the game up only to follow it with the go ahead run only moments late. Her play shifted the momentum of the game in favor of the Ninja Turtles.
Leaf was the backbone for the Badgers today. Besides the solid D he demonstrated on the field, he also put some serious kick into his offense. He kicked in a total of 3 runs and claimed one for himself as well. Impressive playing!

POTW: Camillie M
Violent Chubbies
Camillie was chosen as player of the week for her great presence on the field and her leadership on her team. Whether she's fielding grounders, beating the throw to first or sending a runner home, Camillie gives it 110% all the time. Congrats!
The Angry Pirates have been very Mariner-esque this season in the their run production hasn't really been there. All of that changed in their game this week. They were hitting lines, throwing down suicide squeezes, and playing small ball with the best of them. Congrats pirates and keep watching your Tom Emanski's!

POTW: Jason Schattenkerk
Indiana Jones and the Book of Kicks
Scoring runs has been a problem all season for Indiana Jones and the Book of Kicks. This past Thursday, Jason Schattenkerk took it upon himself to change things by being much more aggressive on the base paths. Because of his newly found dedication to hustle and kickball fundamentals, he was able to lead his team to a crucial 5-4 victory over Violent Chubbies.

POTW: Doreen Ali
Ninja Turtles
Doreen had the play of the day Tuesday in the U-district. The Ninja Turtles know about aggressive base-running, and Doreen put on a clinic. After a routine but well placed bunt, she was off to the races, ducking and dodging her way around the base paths, misdirecting the opposition and capitalizing on their mistakes. When the dust cleared, Doreen had touched 'em all, a home run... on a bunt. How about that!
Ravi Mikkelsen pulled his best Willis Reed impersonation Tuesday in the U-District. Hobbling along on one leg the whole game, Ravi was actually the defensive star of the game. His injury slowed him a bit, yes, but Ravi made the plays in spite of it with a few good catches, and some quick force-outs at third.
It's rare that a McClenahan doesn't get some sort of accolade and this week was no exception. Tyler pitched a gem of a game and was solid at the plate all day, but his true glory happened late in the 6th when his team was down 8-10 with 2 runners on. Tyler stepped up to the plate and blasted a shot to left center. He flew around the bases and barely beat out a play at the plate for the go-ahead run. When asked about why he was able to have such a successful kick, Tyler said, "You just gotta find that one person in the crowd who's really cheering for you and latch onto that raw emotion." Congrats Tyler!
After a few rainouts, everyone comes ready to play! Yes folks, teams were chomping at the bit to get into action on one of our first really sunny days in weeks, and they did not disappoint. Two games were decided by one run with a third that was tied until very late in the game. With so many close ones, the POTW candidates were plentiful, but honors have to go to Colin Davis of Thunder Thighs. Colin had already made one successful slide into home earlier in what had been a seesaw game; each team taking turns looking like they were going to pull out a win. In the bottom of the seventh the bases were loaded with a tie game and Colin on third. His teammate flied out to just past first base for the first out, and Colin made up his mind to go for the win then and there, tagging up and racing home against a throw that caught him dead center a split second after he had slid in safely. When the dust had cleared Colin and Thunder Thighs had pulled out the win in dramatic fashion.

POTW: Alisa Cotter
Indiana Jones and the Book of Kicks
I usually give the POTW to the best defensive player I saw that week or the most spirited team player. Tonight I saw an athlete who encompassed both! Alisa was a great battery mate as she grabbed bunts and threw runners out at first with ease. She effectively communicated with her pitcher on bunt plays and had a lot of energy back there! Likewise, on offense, she was amazing! She went 4 for 4 bunting with accuracy and man, can she run! The whole team was pretty fast to first and displayed great defense on the field. Honorable mentions this week were Ethan Heck of the Violent Chubbies. Great defender out there and he was so inspiring out there and looked like he had too much fun! Also, Turner and Hoochies entire team had great energy and deserved honorable mention. Even when they heckled the umpire, they did so with love and I appreciated it! Angry Pirates deserve a shout out here because no matter what happened on the field, they displayed great sportsmanship. Of course none of them out performed Alisa and I don't want anyone to steal her thunder on this night. Great Job Alisa. I hope we have some amazing players next week. What am I saying, I know we will have some outstanding players but who will stand out from the rest? Thank you all for a great week!
It was a day of upsets in the U-District as both the #1 and number #2 playoff seeds were sent packing for an early summer. Perhaps most shocking was Where My Pitches At? handling #2 seed Badgers. As the Pitches like to joke, they are 'peaking at the right time' (they won their first game the week before the start of the playoffs), but yesterday's performance makes a strong case. They were lead by a superstar all around performance from Bob Uhl. Bob accounted for many of the teams runs with huge kicks and timely base-running, but his defense was tough, too. Nevermind the fact that Bob's been playing the entire season with a clunky leg brace on. Most impressive perhaps was Bob's total demeanor during the whole game- while turning in an "I'm playing out of mind" performance that was equal parts intense and competitive, he never let the competitive mindset get the better of him, and was even humble in accepting his POG nod. Keep up the storybook run, Pitches!
Ravi originally showed up to be a sub because of his sprained knee and ankle, but ended up being an integral player in both games. He was a wall on defense and seemed to always get on base on offense. His consistent play was a big part of his team taking home the championship. Congrats Ravi and hopefully you're 100% for next season!
