Sherri Lucas
BK Ballers
Sherri earns this week's Player of the Game for her outstanding attitude and catching abilities. Things didn't necessarily go BK Ballers way tonight, but that didn't stop Sherri from intimating the other team with her sharp wit behind the plate, and her father was there to watch her play in her first softball game in "25 years"!! Sherri also did great at the plate, driving in the first run for her team and reaching base twice. Congrats Sherri!
A late-night game might slow down some teams. But in their first game of the Lower Woodlands summer league, Go Hard Go Yard looked like they were in mid-season form. The onslaught of hits started in the top of the 1st inning when Scott S blasted a two-run HR over the left-center field fence. He would add to his hit and RBI total throughout the game.
Not just an offensive guy, his consistent pitching led the way on defense. Even after a bad-hop come-backer nicked him in the nose, he returned after a few minutes to finish the last 2-1/2 innings, bandaged up from the minor damage.

Conor Sullivan
One Mound and a Boomstick
Conor may be an intern off the field, but this week he was a top contributor on the field to his teams production in the run department. HIs day at the plate in addition to his sparkling defense at first earns Sullivan the player of the week honor.

Pitchin' Pugs Roll
Score Runs Over 2 Games
The Pitchn' Pugs are showing the rest of the league that they are for real and Monday night's performance was a testament to team hitting, team defense and team energy. From the start they made it well known that both games were going to be a brawl and they would be the last team standing. Their pitching, their defense and their aggressive base running make it really hard for teams to compete with them and I look forward to seeing them in the playoffs as they make their run for a league title. Great game from everyone on the roster from top to bottom. Great night for Pitchn' Pugs!!

Albert C Steals a Hit
Great Diving Catch Keeps Opponent at Bay
What started out as a close game quickly became a one-sided affair, thanks in part to the defensive prowess of One Mound and a Broomstick. The team was in sync with every ball hit their way. But the finest gem of the night belonged to Albert C.
With the other side trying to find a way to mount a comeback, a flare hit down the right field line looked like it was sure to fall for extra bases. Yet, out of nowhere came Albert to make a diving catch, holding onto the ball as he tumbled over. It serves as the pinnacle of a very defensive night.
All you can really say about this team is that they are dominant with a capital D. They are very sound fundamentally on defense and there aren't many holes to get the ball through if you're an opposing batter. At the plate they have the ability to "nine run' a team in back to back to back innings and before you know it the game is over. Their base running is equally impressive and their energy is very high. They have a league title on their minds and welcome all takers to try and knock them off. We look forward to seeing them in the playoffs and wish them good luck as they go after a league title.

Go Hard Go Yard Dominates
David's "Graham Slam" Lifts Team
They are up to their winning ways again and they are on a roll. GHGY is locked, stocked and ready to roll into the playoffs. They are firing on all cylinders and they are going to be a matchup nightmare even for the league's strongest teams. Led by the hot bats of David, Scott and Lewda and their female counterparts GHGY went 2-0 on the night scoring 38 runs in their two games and looking down right ready to go. This team has been a around for a little bit and are starting to establish themselves as a household name in USL softball. Scott's pitching and their defense is as tight as a drum and they are looking to face off with the big dogs in the coming weeks. Great game david and great win GHGY!!
Starting the game with a 2-1 deficit, Pitchin' Pugs would need a jolt of offense to get things going, and Justing Erickson delivered it in spades, going deep twice on the afternoon with two home runs. Justin's performance and hustle would help lead his team to a comfortable 19-8 win. Congratulations Justin, your spectacular performance has earned you our player of the week honors!

Jerry Nearly Hits the Cycle
Player Adds Defensive Assist to Garner POTW Honors
Playing away from the usual confines of Lower Woodland, Go Hard Go Yard found comfort in the spacious fields of Dahl park. Stepping up to demonstrate the wide open environment, Jerry cracked a bomb of a home run in his first at bat, hitting third base before the fielder even got to the ball. He would eventually go 5-for-6 on the game, a triple away from hitting for the cycle.
He also showed off his arm on numerous ground balls to short. But his assist in the bottom of the first was the true gem: taking the cutoff throw from left field in deep short, and then throwing a strike to home plate to nab the would-be scorer.
Connor (aka "The Intern") was up to his usual tricks tonight. In this semifinal game, he had a big night at the plate, scoring runs and driving in many more RBIs. Even more impressive was his defense, tracking down fly balls while battling the sun, and not letting anything get by him. But the play of the night came on his diving catch to rob a hit away from the opposing team and end the inning.
Still lamenting his team's loss in the Red Rubber Showdown a few weeks ago, Dave was in need of some sort of big victory this summer. That victory would come in the form of softball championship for the Lower Woodlands Mon/Tue/Wed league. Playing a fine game at catcher, his bat proved to be the weapon that would do in their opponent. Garnering 3 hits, including an inside-the-park 3-run HR that would put away the Pugs for good, Dave was the MVP for this championship game.
