Lacey brought the energy today. Pushing through a blowout in the first game, she rallied her team for a tie in the second, all the while having fun and playing some hardnosed kickball.
Robert earned player of the week today with one play and one play only. When the game was still scoreless in the first, Robert stepped up to the plate as if unaware of his task, hands behind his back, leaning against the backstop. When the pitch was rolled, it appeared that he wouldn't swing, then he came flying from all the way behind the plate with a screaming kick, ripping into right field. He rounded the bases with speed and style, his locks flowing magnificently in the air. The ball beat him to second, but he didn't care, reaching and rounding second as the ball missed him by inches on the throw. Around third he went, dodging the ball once again, and then crashing into the fence at full speed, he converted his tumble into a nimble somersault to score on a classic move for a kid's game. What a play, Robert!
This week, had some great kickball being played in it, but one of the game two games that ended in ties were tough battles. With Los Locos down by three and the game coming to an end things were looking very bleak. Then when Maribeth came up to kick the bases were loaded and this was a clutch situation and she needed to deliver. The pitch came and Maribeth was able to drive in three runs and tie the game up! The game would end at a six to six tie, but this game could prove very important when seedings for playoffs in a few weeks. Maribeth salvaged the game for her team and got the tie which why she is our player of the week.
