In the first play off game of the night Chico's Bail Bonds and Big Ballers and Shot Callers squared off in what would ultimately become a solid and strong victory for the Shot Callers. After starting the game a little rough and giving up several walks early on, pitcher Monica Buntha settled in and pitched a gem of a game helping hold Chico's Bail Bonds to 11 runs. She helped out her own cause with a bases clearing double down the left line in the 4th inning. There was no question about who was the better team in this preliminary game.
In the second playoff game of the night Rip-It squared off against No Pants Party and a party it was for Rip-It. With a strong pitching performance by Cody Nelson to go along with a monster performance at the plate Rip-It cruised past No Pants Party turning in an impressive 15 run win. Rip-It's consistency on defense and at the plate paved the way for a much deserved championship game appearance.
In the championship game between Rip-It and Big Ballers & shot Callers, Rip-It would not be denied the right to the championship throne. After giving up 9 runs in the very first inning, they kept it together and responded with a barrage of their own quickly turning the tide and outscoring Big Ballers 22 to 9 in the next 3 innings. Tommy Hall was an absolute catalyst for the fire that was set and that spread quickly driving in 6 runs while batting 4 for 4 with 2 triples and 2 doubles. Big Ballers tried to fire back in the 4th inning but could only manage 1 run. After Rip-It reeled of 11 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning the game was too far out of reach and had to be halted after 5 innings. Kudos to Rip-it and an incredible performance.
As the lead off hitter for Rip-It, Tommy Hall's bat and glove were key in getting Rip-It going on offense and defense cruising to the league championship. During the night Tommy went 9 for 9, batted in 10 runs and played multiple positions during both games. Enough cannot be said about Tommy's performance and his consistency on the softball field Monday night. Tommy is the engine that drove Rip-It throughout the night and his performance will be one that will go down in underdog history as one of the greatest. No one is more deserving of this honor than Tommy Hall.Kudos Tommy on an awe inspiring performance!!
Catherine was an absolute monster at the plate on Monday night. she batted 4 for 4 and drove in two runs sparking what would become a run away game. She hit the ball all over the field showing her incredible range at the plate. Awesome hitting performance.
Rebecca had an amazing game this week she brought out the lumber and went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and was the best bat on a good hitting Rip-It Team.
Adam had the dream night in softball going 4 for 4 with 2 homers. These weren't regular homers he hit a 3 run bomb and than the go ahead grand slam in the top of the seventh. To add to hit great night at the plate he made a diving catch in the outfield that the other team came up to him and was in awe. Great night Adam!!
