The Barn - Pikes
|
Win 27 - 12 |
Viewing |
Mr Hands used great defense and timely scoring to upset The Barn-Pikes in the championship game of the Jaunita Mid Core 2 tournament.
In a game that seemed to be dominated by defense on both sides of the ball, Mr Hands had just enough scoring to pull away late and win 27-12. Andrew Stroman completed scoring passes to Trevor Nesbitt and John Dyess. He also was able to get a few key first downs by running the ball.
The game started out with a number of stalled drives, the cold weather inducing a number of dropped balls and misfired passes. Mr Hands was able to hold a 14-0 lead at half on scoring plays to Nesbitt.
At the start of the 2nd half, The Barn got their first score of the game, drawing within 8 at 14-6. But after that Mr Hands clamped down on defense, either breaking up or intercepting passes. Raj Prakash had a key pick, ending a scoring drive deep in Mr Hands territory. Stroman then connected on his 3rd TD pass of the game, that for all practical reasons, salted the game away. The Barn did go on one more scoring drive to close within 9 at 21-12. But Mr Hands scored late to stretch the lead to 15 and then played more stifling defense to close out the game. Adding to the intrigue of the game was the absence of "tiny dancer", a key member of Mr Hands. Many pundits wondered if Mr Hands could survive without him. That question was answered emphatically, Yes they Can.
Congratulaions, Mr Hands!
