In a championship game that was anticipated by flag football fans throughout the country, the Warriors scored a late touchdown to beat the MudDogs 33-32.
The game was back and forth the entire night, with both teams trading touchdowns. It was also a game that showed the importance of PAT's, as the winning score was a PAT with little time remaining. Brandon Deverre was the man that caught that pass and put the Warriors ahead for good at 33-32. He also caught 3 touchdowns in the game, to go along with the 4 TD's he hauled in the semi final win over the Silly Midgets. Complimenting Deverre on the Warrior receiving corps was Chad Kephart, who caught the other 2 touchdowns in the title game. The defense also made the stops when they had to against a potent MudDog passing attack.
The game came down to the last possesion as the Warriors, down by 6, drove the length of the field to the 1 yard line. Then using some clock management, were able to punch across the touchdown that tied the game. The aforementioned PAT to Deverre put them ahead for good and secured them the championship.
In the semi final match ups, Deverre led the Warriors to a 50-20 win over the Silly Midgets. In the other semi final, Mike Park threw 5 TD passes and added 2 interceptions to lead the MudDogs to a 34-26 victory over a talented King Co Finest team and a spot in the finals.
Congratulations to the Warriors on another Underdog title!
This weeks player of the week is Brandon Deverre of the Warriors. He was a one-man wrecking crew in the Warrior's march to the Midcore 1 title. In the semi final game he had 4 TD catches and in the Championship game he added 3 more TD catches. He also caught the game winning PAT in the Championship game. Great Job, Brandon!
