Move Pitch, Get Out The Way captured their 4th league title in 5 seasons at Denny Park last night, a feat that exceeds the Golden State Warrior's 2nd title in 3 years in the NBA. Why does it exceed the Warriors? Because Move Pitch, Get Out The Way finished up their 3rd perfect season out of 5. A league title is one thing, but a perfect season? Let's see any other teams in any other leagues match that consistency and dominance.
The championship game was far from easy, as they faced RUP you up, who were averaging 9.7 runs per game entering the championship. MPGOTW scored 3 early runs, and it was all they needed as they held RUP you up at bay, winning the game 5-2. The defense really led the way, covering great range in the outfield and not letting too much go in the infield. Darrin P plays the bunt better than just about anyone in Underdog kickball, and his team needed it on Tuesday night.
Dominating defense, timely kicks with runners on base. That is how you complete your 3rd perfect season and 4th league title in 5 seasons. Well done, good luck next season!
Ryan H earns this week's Player of the Game award for his great contributions at 1st base and at the plate. At first, Ryan is a steady hand that catches anything thrown to him or popped in his general direction. At the dish, Ryan has a great boot that tends to come in handy with runners on. Congrats Ryan and team!
"Old Guys Rule!" was the saying of the night, as Steve D kicked for the cycle and kicked in 5 runs. Always a threat to go yard, Steve picked his spots to lead his team to victory. Add in a couple of gender encroachment catches (just kidding), and Steve put together a hell of a game.
Darin P wins this week's Player of the Week award for his great pitching performance and his tenacity on the basepaths. Darin fields his position admirably, fielding bunts with ease. As he was rounding third, he got into a little bit of a pickle. After narrowly avoiding the throw, he was able to juke home, earning the name "twinkle toes".
Darin was a dominating force on the mound. He pitched a one run game and was a big part of motivating his defense to shut down their opponents. He was also very supportive of his opponents who were new to the league.
