After a slow start to the evening, Move Pitch, Get Out the Way! made all competition move and get out the way. In what was brewing to be an upset in the semi final game after trailing 5 - 0 early on, Move Pitch slowly but surely chipped away at the lead until finally tying the game and ultimately winning with a 2 run walk off home run in the bottom of the 7th. With finally finding their groove like Stella, Move Pitch took early command of the Championship game and after the 1st inning the outcome was never in doubt.
I remember thinking to myself after a couple of at bats, it usually only takes Ryan one at bat (This time it took two) to warm up before he starts striking fear into the opponents and ball itself with his missile shots... But boy did Ryan, affectionately called by his team mates "Freshman" heat up in a hurry after two un-eventful pop ups. To tie the game, Freshman belted a two run HR to DEEP left center. But not to be outdone by his tying heroics, Ryan found himself at the plate with the score tied and one on in the bottom of the 7th... Um, no need to say anything else... Well... Ok... Ryan blasted the ball over the right field wired monster for a game winning walk-off 2 run home run. Though finding themselves winning easily in the Championship game, Ryan was still up to his belting/blasting ways!
Kegan Rogers led the way in an impressive offensive display by Move Pitch, Get Out the Way. Kegan kicked 3 HRs as Move Pitch cruised to a 11-1 victory. His aggressive base running stood out as he stretched two potential triples into home runs.
This week, Blythe channeled her inner Jackie Robinson and traversed the basepaths with reckless abandon Thursday night at Denny Park. In what was already a big inning for her team, Blythe found herself in a position to easily advance from second to third, an idea echoed by her base coach. Undaunted, Blythe turned the corner on third and made it home on a close play at the plate. For her impressive display on Thursday, Blythe is our player of the week.
This week, Natasha sacrificed her body in order to make a play. While fielding a ball at second base, Natasha was slid into by an opposing baserunner. Despite being knocked off her feet, Natasha fielded the ball well enough to record the out on the runner who knocked her down. For her heroics, Natasha is our player of the week.
