What a performance this week by NFZ. They dominated the semifinals matchup and rolled into the finals with ease. They ran into a tough SOMB squad and the game came down to the final inning. They were able to hold SOMB to just 2 runs over the last four innings in route to the title! Great performance by the team all-around. The pitching was phenomenal, several great plays in the field, solid hitting and not to mention, great sportsmanship. Congratulations No Friend Zone!
Erick and Joey filled in for missing players and ended up playing four games this week! Not to mention great performances at the plate, on the mound, in the field and on the basepaths. Way to show the Underdog Spirit out there!
Erick came to bat with his team in dire straits. What had looked promising minutes before had rapidly been spun on its head; a six-run lead for No Friend Zone had suddenly become a two-run deficit in the last inning, and after two quick outs Erick came to the plate as the tying run.
There was only one thing he could do and he did it, cranking a pitch into deep center-field and circling the bases like lightning to tie the game with one swing. The game would wind up ending 10-10, with those last 2 runs critical for forcing the tie. A clutch blast earns Erick player of the week!
Great team leadership throughout the games. Also a great pitching performance in his first game as well as some solid play at the plate. Bobby also stuck around to play for a team that needed another body to keep the game going.
For a team comprised of people just meeting each other for the first time, this Indy team played like seasoned vets. They made the effort to get to the field early and get to know each other, which translated seamlessly to the field. Everyone contributed and they had an amazing attitude throughout. This team could surprise people this season if they can keep the good times rolling.
