I don't know what it was about this Sunday, but it just felt weird. I don't know if it was something in the water or other beverage of choice but the teams seemed to be feeling it too. With two aptly named teams I should have seen this coming. As Here For The Beer squared off against Booze On First for the 1:30 game, the weirdness made it's presence known...but more on that later. Here For The Beer jumped out to a quick lead in the 1st inning by putting up a 7 spot behind the bat of Spencer Smith and they never looked back. In a game where Here For The Beer had an absolute offensive explosion, no one was on the same level as Spencer. On offense he went 5-for-5 including a grand slam & a triple and on defense he was death to flying things as he snagged hit after hit in center field robbing Booze On First of any chance for a comeback. With his impressive speed, agility and glove he made it look almost routine! So back to the weirdness....as the teams changed sides in the final inning apparently someone, we'll call him a 'spectator', decided share his take on what '7th inning stretch' means. Running onto the field on the first base side wearing nothing but shoes, sunglasses & a bright red hat the 'spectator' ran all the way across the infield to the 3rd base line, turned around and ran back to the first base side & then disappeared for a while only to reappear in the stands later wearing a shirt which read "Security". I personally thought the 27-7 victory by Here For The Beer was entertaining enough on it's own, but I guess on this odd Sunday we should expect the unexpected. Congrats again to Here For The Beer on their impressive victory and to Spencer Smith our Player Of The Week!!!
