April Brixey Strong On The Rubber
There was a pitching clinic going on at Green Lake this past Sunday during the 6:00 game and April Brixey was the instructor. Giving up only 4 runs over 6 innings against a team that normally scores a lot of runs. She down right dominated the Upper Decker batters all day giving them no hope of a rally in any inning down the stretch. She also helped her own cause by batting 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles and 3 runs batted in. Simply a great performance from April and I am sure that we will see more as the season continues.

Tommy "T-Pot" Potter Puts On Hitting Clinic
In a tough game against an always tough opponent Twin Diesels and when Afternoon Delight needed some one to deliver in the later innings, it was Tommy Potter to the rescue. Absolutely on fire at the plate all day it was his timely hitting and well placed shots to the holes in the outfield that opened up the fifth inning and helped pad their slim one point lead going into the 6th inning. He had an opportunity to hit for the "cycle" in this game but in the interest of his team- mates and trying to help pull out a tough win, he gave up this rare opportunity and put the interests of the team first. Hats off to T-Pot for a spectacular job at the plate and and for setting a great example.

Here For the Beer 'streaks' to victory!
I don't know what it was about this Sunday, but it just felt weird. I don't know if it was something in the water or other beverage of choice but the teams seemed to be feeling it too. With two aptly named teams I should have seen this coming. As Here For The Beer squared off against Booze On First for the 1:30 game, the weirdness made it's presence known...but more on that later. Here For The Beer jumped out to a quick lead in the 1st inning by putting up a 7 spot behind the bat of Spencer Smith and they never looked back. In a game where Here For The Beer had an absolute offensive explosion, no one was on the same level as Spencer. On offense he went 5-for-5 including a grand slam & a triple and on defense he was death to flying things as he snagged hit after hit in center field robbing Booze On First of any chance for a comeback. With his impressive speed, agility and glove he made it look almost routine! So back to the weirdness....as the teams changed sides in the final inning apparently someone, we'll call him a 'spectator', decided share his take on what '7th inning stretch' means. Running onto the field on the first base side wearing nothing but shoes, sunglasses & a bright red hat the 'spectator' ran all the way across the infield to the 3rd base line, turned around and ran back to the first base side & then disappeared for a while only to reappear in the stands later wearing a shirt which read "Security". I personally thought the 27-7 victory by Here For The Beer was entertaining enough on it's own, but I guess on this odd Sunday we should expect the unexpected. Congrats again to Here For The Beer on their impressive victory and to Spencer Smith our Player Of The Week!!!

Dirty Poo Leads The Charge
Yes, it was Robbie known affectionately as"Dirty Poo" who led the charge on Sunday against the Punishers. Although he had 2 base clearing bombs to get the party started early it was a combination of energy, hustle and just having a great time that propelled Off In The Corner to this 11 point win. This team is always full of energy, very fun to be around and very fun to watch. I look forward to umping many more of their games. Great job guys and girls and a great win.

All Hail Chris Park's Historic Day At The Plate
With 75 degree weather and not a cloud in thew sky on Sunday it was hot at Green Lake, but not as hot as Chris Park. This man absolutely tore it up on Sunday with 2 grand slams and 8 RBIs. On top of that his scooping skills at short stop were quite impressive and a site to behold. He single handedly outscored Booze on First which is a rare feat in itself against any USL team. Great job Chris and we look forward to seeing you at work again soon.

Hatch White Combo Spells Doom for Upper Deckers
On Sunday a rare feat was pulled off by 2 members of the same team during the same game. Ryan Hatch and Geoff White both managed to hit for the cyle in a game that was thoroughly dominated at the plate. Combined they were 9 for 9 while driving in 13 of the 19 runs scored. Abby Halpin Leads The Way
When her team needed some critical runs in their 8 inning war with Twin Diesels, Abby calmly steps to the plate on two occasions and delivers what would turn out to be the difference in a tight 5 to 4 game. She batted 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs and her defense was equally impressive all game long. LATFG will move on the next round of the play offs and we look forward to seeing Abby in action again real soon. Great game and hats off to Abby.

Rob Cameron Delivers the Goods
Down 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning and after a game long complete all out war, Mr. Everything Rob Cameron steps to the plate with 2 on and 1 out and calmly delivers a rocket shot to right center field that sent home the tying and winning runs and helped Afternoon Delight capture yet another league title.
