In a game that was full of great hits, aggressive base running, lots of hustle and fun, it came down to a bottom of the 7th inning with perennial champ Afternoon Delight trying to not go down. The stage was set, there was one out, two runners on and AD trailed by 2 runs. For Rob Cameron it was either go down in flames after a long hard fought game or deliver a shot some where hard and get those runs in. He calmly steps to the plate an delivers an absolute rope to right center that sealed the deal. Afternoon Delight has won multiple titles but this one was the toughest to date that I have been a part of. Great game and congratulations to Afternoon Delight.
Down 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning and after a game long complete all out war, Mr. Everything Rob Cameron steps to the plate with 2 on and 1 out and calmly delivers a rocket shot to right center field that sent home the tying and winning runs and helped Afternoon Delight capture yet another league title. He also pitched a very strong game helping his own cause and giving his team a chance to prevail once again in championship play.
On Sunday a rare feat was pulled off by 2 members of the same team during the same game. Ryan Hatch and Geoff White both managed to hit for the cyle in a game that was thoroughly dominated at the plate. Combined they were 9 for 9 while driving in 13 of the 19 runs scored. Hats off to both of these gentlemen and we look forward to seeing you in the playoffs.
In a tough game against an always tough opponent Twin Diesels and when Afternoon Delight needed some one to deliver in the later innings, it was Tommy Potter to the rescue. Absolutely on fire at the plate all day it was his timely hitting and well placed shots to the holes in the outfield that opened up the fifth inning and helped pad their slim one point lead going into the 6th inning. He had an opportunity to hit for the "cycle" in this game but in the interest of his team- mates and trying to help pull out a tough win, he gave up this rare opportunity and put the interests of the team first. Hats off to T-Pot for a spectacular job at the plate and and for setting a great example.
