Win by forfeit against Slap My Pitch Up | Win |
The championship match-up had two very solid squads, and both teams were ready to battle. Via Vipers and Sports! met in the chipper and the game went down to the wire with 1 extra inning. Deadlocked at 14 in going into the 7th defense was the key as the first scoreless inning took place leaving the score 14 to 14 going into extra innings. Via Vipers were able to get a couple of quick outs but Sports! rallied and put up the eventual winninng 4 runs. Both teams played excellent on both sides of the plate, but Sports left the field the Champs, and Via Vipers left with the Sportsmanship team of the season. Great season both teams and see ya next season!
This week's honored player is Jason Miller of Sports!. In the nights closest and most exciting game, one that featured multiple lead changes, Jason was the hero. After the game ended as a tie at 15-15, Sports! and They might be GIANTS went into extra innings. Strong defense and pitching held the GIANTS scoreless in the top half on the inning which allowed for Jason to shine. Stepping to the plate with one out in the bottom of the inning Jason blasted the first ball he saw out over the green monster of a left field fence that is characteristic to Lower Woodland Playfield 3. Not only did this win the game for Sports! but adavanced them to the next round of the playoffs. Nice job Jason!
This weeks player of the week goes to Camille D. and her awesomness at 2nd base. Camille was a defensive guru at 2nd getting all who hit her way out. Camille sealed the honors with 3 text book double plays she turned at 2nd base not allowing the opponent to mount any sort of comeback in her first game. Camille also hit the cover off the ball and was an all around stud on the field. Great game Camille!
This weeks player of the week goes to Andrew T. for his performance at the plate. While playing a solid short-stop, it was his bat that caught the eyes of the POTW judges. Andrew hit 3 bombs to open up a early lead, and hit a foul-ball that probably has not landed yet. Andrew tried to lay off a meaty pitch at the end of the game, but even his lazy attempt in the batters box resulted in a shot over the fence for an out since he already used up the HR quota! Great job Andrew!
