It was the rematch of the century. Like Tyson- Holyfield Two, but without the ear biting. In one corner, the still winless More Cowbell, hungrier than ever for that elusive first victory. In the other corner- The Angry Pirates- whose only victory was a late come from behind win against the Cowbell crew. Folks, this is championship caliber kickball here. The game took shape similar to the previous one, with Cowbell jumping out early, but there was no premature celebrating as they knew a lead could slip away in the blink of an eye. But it was Mark Wellington who sealed the deal for them getting all three outs in the top of the seventh. Two fly balls went directly to him at third for the first two outs. Then, after a Buckner-esque dropping of a third pop-up that let a run score, he made the next play with a force at third to give More Cowbell their first victory. "Had to make it interesting," Mark commented after the game. Indeed.
Kim was POG in the Entercommies/ Seatown Shockers game, but she's not a rostered player on either of those teams. In fact, Kim's an Indy from the team More Cowbell who played the game before. When The Entercommies were short a girl, she stepped up to the hardcore division to save the day... and the game. Kim had three big defensive plays, the last in the bottom of the seventh to help her adopted team edge out their competition 4-3. She was unanimously voted player of the game, and she embodies the true Underdog spirit; ya do it for the love and the fun, and your teammates give you beer afterwards.
